Happy weekend yogis! And here comes this weeks #illustratedpostureoftheweek from me and sass pot @alicenyong enjoy! ✌🏽💜☯️This weeks posture is all about building a strong foundation & rooting down to grow tall, here we have it yogis: Tadasana / Mountain Pose.
Although a familiar shape to be in, even standing is a yoga posture. Using a sequence of subtle muscular movements here this familiar posture can become something new to you. it may change how you stand forever!! It’s a great one to spend some time breathing in on a busy day or to re focus when that to do list escalates…
Standing with feet hip distance apart spread your toes wide and plug them into the earth. Pressing actively with the big toes and heels you may notice the arches in your feet activate.
Bring some awareness to the knees and the knee caps, activating the Quads, keep softness in the knees with a tiny bend. Internally rotate the upper thigh muscles and extend towards the ground with your tailbone.
Suck the belly button towards the back of the rib cage, up and back, activating your core strength. Take a massive breath in to the chest and exhale to release the shoulders down your back. Either extending the hands down long or keeping them at prayer in your heart centre. Keeping space between the ears and shoulders.
Tuck your chin slightly towards your chest and extend actively through the crown of your head towards the sky. Notice the push of the earth back up against your feet as you grow tall through the crown of the head. Maybe consider the exchange of energy as you send yours back down though your feet on an exhale and into the ground beneath you. Try considering that exchange with the planet, that transfer of energy from one of you to the other in equal measures.
Closing your eyes can you feel your heart beating? Can you tune inwards and hear only your deep circular rhythmic breath? Have you started swaying very slightly as you stand? Moving with the earth as it spins on its axis. Feeling strong and completely un moveable hear... like a mountain x
Listen to the mustn'ts, child. Listen to the don'ts. Listen to the shouldn'ts, the impossibles, the won'ts. Listen to the never haves, then listen close to me... Anything can happen, child. Anything can be.

@yoga_girl Bought a new phone. 7+. It's ginormous and impossible to maneuver with just one hand - I don't know what I was thinking. I do everything with one hand these days.
I was excited to share with you guys today that we've had five consecutive awesome nights: @loving.lealuna has stopped crying! We really only had three crappy nights but they were so awful they scarred me. I told @dennisfromsalad when we get to 10 consecutive days of calm we can start doing things in the evenings like normal people again but for now we are on a strict schedule. I read all the comments I receive here on IG - when I ask for advice it's because I really need it! One of the things that people kept recommending was implementing a solid evening routine (which we of course had never done because we hardly know what the word means)🙈 We now have a super routine going and it's WORKING! I guess babies need stability and calm? Who knew! Ha. Anyway. Every evening we now:
1. Go for a walk with the dogs or go to the beach
2. Go home and take a bath/shower. Showering with her is the highlight of my day (and no of course I would never drop her don't even mention it!). I diffuse essential oils and make the bathroom super cozy and we go in the rainfall shower together. It's the BEST. The best. She loves the water.
3. Baby massage. With oil! She's such a little princess.
It's really working! Since we started the super routine we have had no crying and last night she slept for six straight hours. So I was all excited to share our progress but then of course tonight she started crying and just wouldn't stop. Yup. I'm a little less panicked about it now but it's still the most awful thing. She's asleep now but won't let me put her down and won't let Dennis take her so we are stuck together like Velcro. The best Velcro, but still🙃
Being a mom is hard. And so fucking awesome! The difficult stuff is still all ok and every day I fall more in love.
