So today was supposed to be a rest day/day off but the sun was out and I just couldn't help myself 😎🌞
I'm slowly progressing along my handstand journey. I still find it difficult to get that straight line (as evident in the wobbly start), but I feel as if each time I practise, I get just a little bit closer towards my goal of a 60 sec handstand.
Also met a cool guy from Germany doing callisthenics on the bars. We exchanged tips (handstands for bar muscle ups) and had some fun working out together 😊 Happy days ✌

Growing up my mama always had a special liking to butterflies. Years later I would realize the synchronicity of her love for butterflies. What and who they symbolize. I've never been one to take the easy emotional route, that's part of my karmic learning this cycle, but my mom has always been the gentle but honest love. The cocoon that holds you during transformation. That period of What the Fuck is happening but you are held in safe space during. She now has several beautiful tattoos of butterflies cascading down her back. Over the past few years I have also learned more about my mother curiosity and attunement to earth and energetics. She comes from a line that practices with the Earth. Grandma was a master gardener and mom is. The Archetype is making her way from the mist.. Rise Shakti. Today's practice felt like torture for the first 10 minutes, and I mean, for real. Every part of my body was hurting. But every minute that I kept going, it was less painful, until eventually it felt amazing and I didn't want to stop my practice. This pose especially was killing my hips, as it always does. Funny how the seemingly easiest poses can be the hardest ones. I diverge... Point is, I realllly didn't want to get on my mat this morning but yet needed it so badly. Could it be that what you resist the most is actually what you need the most? 🤔 Thoughts?
Over the past year, I've had the honor of having my work recognized through the quality of the teachers I have trained. A month or so ago, it happened again. Denise Danielle Mallory, who directs the yoga program at Vital Climbing had a budding teacher audition to become an instructor at Vital. That student was non-other than one of my and Mantra Yoga's youngest graduates, Chase McCarthy. Denise asked if Chase had been trained by me, to which Chase responded, "YES"! [Side note] I say this not to brag or boast, but to share how grateful I am for the opportunities I've been given, my gurus (Melissa Sujata Smith for one), and the talent of my students. I've worked really hard to offer meticulous and responsible teacher trainings. Really hard. So in a yoga world filled with fad, it means a lot to me to have my teachers recognized for their precision and well-roundedness. Even happier to hear that they are getting hired!
Fast Forward. Weeks later I was invited to teach a two-part continuing education workshop at Vital. Today we spent 4 hours learning how to safely and effectively apply physical (manual) adjustments, while having those assists reflect the intention and energy lines of each asana.
Such an awesome group of yogis! Statistically in 2016, there were 2 teachers in training for every 1 teacher certified. Bravo to these ladies for setting themselves apart by continuing their education! More than that, these ladies (and some not pictured from Part 1) are now even better equipped to offer healing through intentional and intuitive touch. Thanks so much for having me ladies!!! *If you manage or own a studio, please feel free to message me for bookings and rates. Teacher and student workshops available. **Special shout-out to Thai Yoga Massage Therapist and School, Deon De Wet. Major upgrade to my adjustments as a yoga teacher. Today's rest day wasn't a super relaxed rest day. Instead, Mother Nature decided to dump a big load of fluffy white death on us❄️ which lead to me shoveling my: 1. Back deck 2. Front deck 3. Sidewalks and 4. Half my driveway..can it be spring now!? My parents sent me a picture of my youngest sister in front of the Langley Temple and they have GORGEOUS tulips bloomed in front of it...totally jealous😩☀️
Whiney rant done..tomorrow is MonSLAY!! Who's ready to smash another week of workouts!? Tomorrow's leg day and I'm ready to show it who's boss💪🏼 I'm also doing a One Perfect Week this week which will involve absolutely NO CHOCOLATE!!!! I'm not even kidding..I found more easter chocolate and I keep getting the munchies so I eat it but end up feeling like 💩!! So, First on the list is no chocolate. Second, smash in 6 days of workouts plus 1 spin cycle class. And Third, drink 3 of my Wonder Woman bottles of water which would equal to about half my weight in oz.
This week is gonna be killer but it's gonna be the good kind! I want to push myself harder, I want to progress more in different areas, I want to reach my new and still in play goals and smash them to the ground!

🍎🍏Vegan Raspberry Apple Crumble🍎🍏I LOVE Crumble maar vaak zit het vol met geraffineerde suikers, boter ed. Daarom bedacht ik zelf deze gezondere Vegan Crumble 🌱
Ingrediënten voor 1 grote of 2 kleinere porties:
•50 gr amandelmeel
•25 gr havermout
•40 gr kokosbloesemsuiker + 1 el extra •40 gr kokosolie •snuf zout
•1 appel, geschild en in kleine blokjes
•125 gr frambozen, diepvries en goed ontdooid
ZO MAAK JE HET:
Verwarm de oven voor op 175 graden. Doe de meel, havermout, suiker, snuf zout en de kokosolie in een beslagkom en kneed tot het een kruimeldeeg is geworden. Meng de appel en frambozen samen met 1 el suiker in een ingevette ovenschaal.
