Good morning everyone. If you haven‘t yet checked out my „Photo Hunt“ series on YouTube, please follow the link in my profile. It would mean a lot to me.
As someone who wants to make a living with creative work (I realize that pretty much any kind of work is in some way creative) I have to learn how to be inspired and motivated even if I have a bad day or worse.. a bad week! That‘s why a lot of people tell me that they couldn‘t earn money with their hobby (music, sport, art, dance, etc...) because they don‘t want to force themselves to be creative in order to pay the bills. I agree with them in some aspects because I thought about becoming a musician (I love playing the piano) but I am way too much afraid of having to perform for a crowd when I don‘t want to. I‘m just not good enough to ensure a basic level of skill at any time of the day that will earn me the money. With photography it is different. I‘ve done it so many times that I don‘t necessarily have to be inspired and motivated to produce work that someone wants to pay for. If I am truly inspired and motivated my work is much better, though. How to achieve that all the time? I actually have no idea but I found for myself that trying out new creative skills like painting keeps me in a creative mood while I relax and refresh my battery of inspiration for photography. That‘s why today I will have a painting session.
Have a productive and fantastic day everyone. See you tomorrow with another post if you like.

A hippo watches as the hippo and croc tour boats cruises past, taking us into the world of the hippos.
In the South African province of Kwa-Zulu Natal, there is a beautiful little holiday town on the coast called St. Lucia.
With many activities and sights to see for the tourists, I took my family on one of the hippo and croc tours. We were able to see heaps of hippos in the St. Lucia estuary.
The estuary is located next to the main strip in St. Lucia. The hippos have even been seen foraging on the lawns at night, so you always need to be alert.
St. Lucia is a awesome town that offers a wide range of activities with conservation and Eco tourism the main focus.
With hippos being considered the most dangerous mammal in Africa, it's incredible to see them playing around in the shallows, with not a care in the world.
At the same time one hippo does its characteristic call as it resurfaces out the water, after being submerged for up to 6 minutes and it is a beautiful sound.

Those of you who read my occasional ramblings may have noticed a lot of my images have been taken in Savute. I spent two years in this amazing part of Botswana's Chobe National Park in a quest to tell the fascinating story of its disappearing river and incredible wildife behaviour. The result is a book, which will be released next month and which I hope will do justice to one of Africa's greatest wildife destinations.
This is one of the images that made the cut. It took me many days and weeks to learn about the osprey's feeding schedule and occasional behavioural quirks that preceded its seemingly spontaneous leaps towards the water. As a summer migrant I also only had a narrow window to capture it hunting and it wasn't until the second year that I finally succeeded.
EN: As almost all of you guessed right, yesterday we had a walk to the forest to collect birch tree juice 😄 It is very popular spring drink in Russia because of its good properties. It is really good for health because the juice feeds the whole tree and it is rich with different vitamins and microelements😃 Actually it has similar flavor with water but it also has slightly sweet and woody flavor. ☺ So we make 2 holes in a tree, put a bandage inside so the juice could go through the bandage into the bottle. And while we were waiting we enjoyed fresh air and made a little barbecue. By the way it requires about 1 hour to fill 1 liter of juice from 1 tree. When we finished collecting the juice we inserted wooden sticks to stop the stream.😉 ************************************
