We were driving down the highway just outside Page, AZ when Blair did a sudden u-turn and pulled into a dirt trailhead. “What are you doing?!,” I asked, confused and a bit concerned. “It’s Horseshoe Bend!,” he exclaimed, excitedly. “What the hell is Horseshoe bend?” “You know, from the pictures! Horseshoe Bend.” Cool. We weren’t planning on an 8am hike, but heck, we set out with our sandals and a camera. Blair and I had fun seeing the icononic bend in the Colorado river, and P just had fun climbing on all the rocks and hunting for lizards…..I’m a big planner, so it’s always a bit of a surprise when spontaneous moments like these end up being the best ones.
At the Foot of Fitz Roy-
Here's one from he Argentine side of Patagonia, within Los Glaciares National Park. This region is home to some world-class hiking, and some of the most iconic mountain ranges in the world....including Mt Fitz Roy (As seen here) and Cerro Torre.
A little #waterfallwednesday love from my favorite after work hike, Stuibenfälle. Too bad it's 6000 miles from home. Finally found time to make my way to the top of the falls. I always solo hike this one to keep from falling asleep in the hotel room after work and before dinner meetings. Each time i figure out how to get enough time to get a little farther on the trail. Hopefully i get back to get to lake Plansee on the next trip!
