Before life with a kid, my husband and I used to always set the table for our dinners. We always used the favorite dishes or linens and silks. And then I started worrying that my kid would ruin them or set them on fire, so we stopped...but lately, I've decided that's all part of the memories we make together. So, I let him help with set up, and be a part of it, and he really loves it. And it makes dinner more fun. Which I think is how it should be for all our special events and weddings. We set the tables to help guests engage. We create a setting that encourages living a really good life. It sets a sacred scene. Every trip or life experience I have has always revolved around the memories of my meals in those spaces.
I've decided over the next 6 months I'm going to share a bit more about my process, my mindset, and my motivation behind what I do, my designs, and how I approach each job as an artist, my inner monologues, and as a lifestyle...because I think that will help clients and followers better understand why they are hiring me or why they are drawn to maybe something I do. There are core principles and evolving ones...so I'm going to give more glimpses of that aspect.
So, I thought I'd share a few of our moments on the journal today, so you can see how it plays out at our home before I bring it to a wedding or holiday dinner.

The location, beautifully decorated to the tiniest details (courtesy of Sarah Glick from Brilliant Event Planning), was the timeless and elegant Bowery Hotel. Located on the Lower East Side, this gorgeous wedding space, which boasts seductive exposed brick walls and twinkling chandeliers, provided the right mix of modern luxury and lavish opulence to the event.
Headed out to dinner with the Mr. to celebrate our 3rd wedding anniversary! Although it's only been three years, I can't believe the growth, joy, grace, and trust that we have learned and experienced through marriage. He truly is my best bud, ride or die, slightly grandpa-ish (just ask our closest friends), kind, husband. Love you E.G.
And here's to Easter arrangements on "Gram-Gram's" (as Theo so affectionately calls my grandma) mantle.
