• Rained Out •
A few weeks back I attempted to kick off a small photo group that will likely meet about once a month here in Baton Rouge to shoot together, but the weather that day had other plans. The photo walk ended up getting rained out and cancelled before it even started, but since @xsilva_gasc and I were already on LSU's campus, where the photo group was set to meet for its inaugural walkabout, we decided to just stick around and shoot a little together on our own. Full disclosure: Xenia really wanted to shoot and would not be deterred by the rain. 😊 I had "borrowed" her old Nikon for years and only recently relinquished it back to her after buying a new camera this past year, so she was determined to use her "new" old camera come rain or shine! Couldn't have asked for better company on such a dreary day.
Composition was one of the many varied topics of conversation between me and Xenia during our rainy day walkabout. In fact, it is what we were discussing when I exposed this image in particular while relating to Xenia that what we choose to show within the frame, as well as what we judiciously leave out, can be used to not only communicate a scene as we saw it but also imbue it with a sense of story.
