The most beautiful, saddest and unique part of the Buddhist Zojo-Ji temple is the rows and rows of clothed and decorated jizo. The statues represent the souls of unborn children: those who died before birth, as well as those yet to be born. Some of the statues here are well taken care of and obviously visited often, while others are neglected and alone.
Exactly one year ago we travelled for the first time across the borders as a family👪. We started of easy by traveling to the Ardennes in Belgium 🇧🇪 and French🇫🇷, although we still had a lot to learn. For an instance, look at this photo: what's wrong? 'Look at your baby, now back at this one, now back to your baby...' (damn #oldspicecommercial ) A well trained parent would immediately say: strollers + cobblestones = 🚫. Let me tell you, we learned the hard way. Luckily no baby's were harmed during this experiment 🙈👶🏽. In the meantime the baby has grown up to a toddler, and will be traveling to his first intercontinental destination today! I'm as nervous as a turkey at Christmas for the long flight but I think he will be fine and we, as the parents, will step out of the plane with a few more grey hairs...👵🏼👴🏼. But hey, Japan here we come 🇯🇵🍱🍡✈️⛩!
I always want to be completely honest and showcase truth within these squares. We get a lot of comments about how our kids must be amazing hikers and love hiking since we do it so much. Although, I think our kids are pretty amazing and I'm super proud of all the miles they have hiked it is a journey! All of our kids have been hiking since birth, but for our 3 year old it has been a little bit of a harder process! Our son Eli is not so sure about hiking and he constantly tells us he doesn't like hiking. When we do go hiking he is the one who sits down at the beginning of the trail in protest, melts down because his brother is way ahead of him and is constantly asking to be carried! We have to encourage, motivate and distract him on most of our hikes together. The beginning of our hikes are always a little bit of an up hill battle with him. It's kind of funny because once he starts hiking and exploring the things around him everything is forgotten and all of a sudden that was the best hike he has ever gone on and he can't stop talking about it 😂 We motivate him (really all of our kids) by finding trails that feature rivers, lakes, wildlife, cool rock formations and caves. I don't know about your kids, but my kids like to touch, climb and explore. We also make sure to bring lots of snacks to refuel and motivate forward! Lastly, we like to use the time our son is protesting or hiking behind us to encourage him and to just spend one on one time with him. (He's the middle child so I honestly think he uses these times to get attention). It is a process and we are continually learning what works and what doesn't work. It's amazing to see how much he really does loves being outdoors exploring and adventuring once he gets past his emotions. It's a struggle even for us sometimes, but we think it's so important to spend time outdoors and we will use this time and season to build into our son, encouraging and motivating him along the way. -
What do you do to motivate your children while hiking, traveling, exploring or adventuring?
2. Patience, solve the problems, time and self management - sabar ketika semua tidak berjalan sesuai yg direncanakan, fokus pada solusi bukan pada masalah, dan berusaha untuk selalu mengontrol diri sendiri.
3. To see the world globaly and try new things - bukankah Allah sudah menciptakan kita semua berbeda, berbangsa dan bersuku-suku?
Kenapa saya suka jalan-jalan?
