Why I ride...? I believe each of us have our passions. That specific interest which sparks excitement, feeds your mind and body, warms your heart and soul.
For me, it's riding motorcycles.
Why do you ride? This is the question often asked when people see us on our bikes. Even my wife asked this question during our early acquaintance. My parents to this day disapprove, stating many reasons : it's high risk, too dangerous, high risk, dangerous, and... Well you get the point.
Well to me, a motorbike is one of my mentors in life. It is objective, with no bias, free of norms and standard values.
It becomes an extension of my body, You get what you give immediately. On bikes, you learn to always move forward in order to stay balanced. There is no luxury of overthinking your next move, so you learn to make critical decisions quickly.
You'll learn total control of yourself, from mind, body from head to toes. With 110 horsepower (same engine power of small mpvs 5x a bike's size) you need to have perfect focus and composure. Control your body, ego, and emotion to conquer and control that enormous engine power. Otherwise this machine will control you and lead you to serious impact, fatal injured, or even kill yourself. But let's not focus on risk and scary stuff. Focus on your area that you can control and enjoy the ride.
Another thing is freedom of emotion, just feeling, you're not really free anyway :) When the wind moves along your bodies, and there are no boundaries between you and all objects and nature. Life is better when lived.
For me, that is one of the spiritual experiences. And when your body and soul already attached to your motorbike, you can free up your mind and think clearly along the way.
Above all, safety is everything. Wear the best safety gear that you can get and afford. No excuse. Whatever your happiness and enjoyment with your motorbike, you must be able to go home safely to your lovely spouse and kiddos.
Okay, thats mine. How about you?
