How to deal with those Sweet Cravings:
Well unfortunately as a lot of questions asked in the fitness industry there are no right or wrong answers to this. However this is my opinion:
Going cold turkey just isn't feasible for 90% of people. Most likely one of the reason we tend to be overweight is we struggle with the will power to not eat crap. Therefore going cold turkey and cutting out all treats will only set you up to fail. This doesn't mean going cold turkey doesn't work for some people, it does. I've done it before myself and seen many others, most of which tend to work in my industry or train to a high level. Personally I think if you are someone who struggles with there weight finding a balance where you allow sweet treats is much more manageable. The one thing you must know though is eating these foods will most probably have a detrimental effect to your results. I'm under no illusion when I eat my pizza and ice cream on a Saturday night damage will be done to my goal of staying lean.
But here's the trick. You have to find the balance, you must be working hard enough and eating well enough 80-90% of the time in order to still see a good result whilst allowing yourself certain freedoms.
Here are some useful tips:
▶️ 20 minute rule. If you feel the urge, give it 20 minutes, try and take your mind away from it and see how you feel.
▶️Back up snacks, carry a healthy alternative with you encase those cravings get the better of you.
▶️Keep naughty treats out of sight and in a hard place to get to. Locked cupboard etc. ▶️Zero sugar alternatives. Off course nothing taste as good as the real thing but there are plenty of zero carb bars, drinks and even noodles out there.
