I shared this in my stories but I know lots of people house hunting right now so I'm going to share it here also.
After reading a few things on how to bring good luck into your new home, this is what I brought...
It is said you want to enter and exit your home for the first time through the front door or you will never feel fully settled.
Bonsais (seems really any living plant) brings life into your new home. Bread, rice, wine, and salt (I also read eggs) are symbols of hospitality, wealth and prosperity. I forget why honey is good luck. 🤔 It is also said that shaking salt around your threshold keeps away evil spirits (I definitely lived out some Supernatural fantasies with this!). If spirits aren't your thing it helps keep out critters too. Lighting a candle on your first night in the home is to chase any evil spirits out of the shadows. Lure says painting your porch, door, and shutters blue help keep them out as well. Spirits cannot cross water and the blue mimics it. Deities bring good luck to your home. You also want to leave your old broom (or toss it) since it brings bad luck. We really only eat rice in sushi form so that was our first dinner in the new place!
