Ramappa Temple is located 77 km from Warangal, the ancient capital of the Kakatiya dynasty in the state of Telangana in India. An inscription in the temple dates it to the year 1213 AD
The temple is a Shivalaya, where Lord Ramalingeswara is worshiped. It stands majestically on a 6 ft high star shaped platform. Temple is known by the name of the sculptor Ramappa, who built it. The history says that it took 40 years to build this temple.
Temple is a marvelous example of Kakatiyan creative genius, with beautiful art, intricate carvings adorning the walls, pillars and ceilings.
