Some of the most dense, lush and beautiful forests we have ever seen on our travels can be found in Vietnam. We had been traveling for 2 days overland from Hanoi when we pulled off on the side of the road at the head of a small trail. With a smile on his face, our guide jumped out and said 'let's go for a walk...' We spent the whole afternoon exploring the jungle. ⠀
Have you been to Vietnam?⠀
Our first night stay in Bangkok, Thailand. Quick lesson on electricity in Thailand: Most devices these days (phone chargers, laptop chargers, camera chargers) ate "smart" enough to convert various voltages down to the one your device needs. Thailand uses 220V, USA uses 120. Most adapters you buy only allow your device to FIT into other outlets - the power that goes through them is still going to be the higher voltage. How do I know? I plugged in a power strip (does not at all accept 220V) through an adapter and blew out the power in the entire room, only to learn the hard way that I never needed an adaptor in the first place, I needed a power converter. The outlets in Thailand will accept standard US two prong plugs. I lost the power strip and adaptor at that point, but learned a life lesson. Besides that, look how pretty our room at Holiday Inn Bangkok was!
In Buddhist symbolism the lotus is symbolic of purity of the body, speech, and mind as while rooted in the mud, its flowers blossom on long stalks as if floating above the muddy waters of attachment and desire. It is also symbolic of detachment as drops of water easily slide off its petals. 🌷
