I opted for another casual look for todays outfit. I went with my black mum jeans paired with a military green sleeveless jumper with a loose turtle neck, perfect in accentuating the bust, jawline & avoiding scarfs if you're someone that finds they can get in the way. Known as 'Polo Necks' deriving from England in the 15th century, polo necks became a popular fashion symbol during the mid 20th century (50, 60s) becoming a smart form of dress for those who wanted to avoid formal wear, especially in the United States. They also became an iconic staple for young females, seen as preppy they were altered to be tighter fitting and accentuate the figure becoming a mainstream fashion item globally. I went a grunge/military style in my look sticking to deeper shades, military style boots, loose fitting jeans & brass clipped winters coat reflecting a minor steampunk style. Steampunk fashion is based on a movement in science fiction and is a combination between the victorian style and neo-futurism. The brass cuffs, style of the jacket & button down boots do reflect steampunk elements. Yesterday i mentioned in my post about the makeup i would choose if my winter attire was predominantly blacks, greys & darker green shades. I suggested a deep mahogany red lip & smokey eye. This is exactly what i pictured and compliments the outfit perfectly, again a purple plum would just be as fitting in the lip. Alternatively a deep purple on the outer corners of the eye would also be appropriate. If the eye was an entire deep shade it would be overwhelming on the face, eyes & the piece as the outfit is predominantly black. Basing the makeup entirely on dark shades would wash out the face while making the eyes look much smaller & not as definitive especially if you're a lighter skintone. It's important to make sure you have colour in the face through blush & contour, this creates a more natural/skinkissed look and prevents looking unblended, cakey & washed out, especially if you're dealing with darker shades which can easily create an unflattering complexion. I believe makeup is just as important as the outfit itself! It needs to compliment your attire chickadees, remember that #slay .
