#Gurdwara Bangla Sahib.
Originally a #bangla belonging to Raja Jai Singh of Amber(Jaipur), where he hosted the eighth and youngest of #Sikh gurus, Guru Harkrishan. All of 5 when made leader of the Sikhs, Guru Harkrishan was summoned to Delhi by Aurangzeb in order to be replaced by his older brother, an Aurangzeb ally, as guru of the Sikhs. But once in Delhi, the child guru contracted smallpox. He is said to have left hints to locate the ninth guru on his deathbed, possibly changing the course of a major world religion. He was eight years old then.
A Damascus Kara. Traditionally worn by all initiated Sikhs, the Kara is one of the 5 kakars, or external articles of faith, that identify a Sikh as dedicated to their religious order. This traditionally iron bracelet originated as a protective ring to guard the sword arm of the Khalsa warriors during battle. The wearer typically only removes the bracelet under...extenuating circumstances. I made five dark contrasting layers on the damascus, to go with the theme of the 5 kakars, and forge welded the ends together to make this bracelet one solid ring. This was a custom commissioned piece, not for sale. #damascus#sikh#skyforgedamascus#bracelet#kara#customjewelry
