Here is a section of the Tocatta by Rodrigo, taken from a video I did playing the whole piece. I make these videos pretty often, both to get experience performing newer pieces and so that I can watch them back and make notes of things that need improvement. It's like taking a lesson, but you're the student and the teacher!
La Catedral by Agustin Barrios.
For #tbt I’ll mention how nostalgia-inducing this piece is to me.
It’s such evocative and fragile music already and I decided to close my first ever public recital during my undergraduate with this piece.
I remember it was the first time I really felt like I was letting go and allowing myself to share what I had to say musically.
To anyone that has ever experienced this - you know how liberating this feels.
Despite a lot of the first half of my recital being a nightmare and having a huge memory slip, when I ended with this piece, I finally felt the “ok, this is really me, and I can do this”.
I would love to hear about your similar experiences in the comments below! I hope you enjoy!
By the way, if you search YouTube for “Evan Taucher la catedral” you’ll find the very performance I’m talking about 😊
Thank you to @danielwellington for the beautiful watch. If you use my code “TAUCHER15” on their site, you’ll get 15% off your watch!
Happy world music day to everyone who shares their gift of music with the world. I know so many who have dedicated their lives to music. Each one of you inspire so many, and bring beauty to this world through sound waves.... and that in itself is truly magical. <3 #worldmusicday
