Visiting the Pacific Northwest has become my new favorite pastime as a result of our move to Portland. Standing on the rocky cliffs, I feel as though I am on the edge of the earth. My heart can't help but smile as children giggle and chase the cool waves. Beach fires line the shore, gleaming in the dusk. The multitude of floral aromas and magnificent sounds of the forest trees calm my spirit. In this place, it is just so easy to simply BE. It's as if there are so many glorious and beautiful things that just exist...together. There is no competition. The world lives in blissful harmony and is open for all to enjoy. It's a hideaway. A safe haven. And a true and great reminder of how small and insignificant I really am. // "Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad; let the sea resound, and all that is in it. Let the fields be jubilant, and everything in them; let all the trees of the forest sing for joy. Let all creation rejoice before the Lord..." ~Psalm 96:11-12 // How humbling.
JOY. There's something to be said of the joy we allow ourselves. I say 'allow' intentionally as we deprive ourselves of it unknowingly on a daily basis. Happiness is a choice, it is not chased and this statement is so under valued. We often live our lives on autopilot- one task to the next, one job to the next, one day to the next. Going through the motions chasing some unattainable finish line we've convinced ourselves exists. Tomorrow, next week.. next 'you fill in the blank'. When was the last time you just decided to be present? To experience joy in its simplest forms and just revel in the energy around you? So much of life will pass you by waiting for that non existent finish line, so why not allow yourself joy in the present moment? #instagood#instagram#joy#gratitude#whatareyouinthepracticeof#lifeofadventure#reflection
