Savior Elmundo is a Renaissance man; an accomplished dancer, choreographer, artist, and filmmaker who is driven by his passion for creative expression. Born in 1973, in Harlem New York, Savior had the privilege of coming up in the epicenter of the emergence of hip-hop while catching the tail end of a remarkable art scene in NYC. The convergence of these two worlds created a platform for what was to come.
The progression of his artistic style continues to expose the complexities of life, culture, and personal experiences. His evocative mixed media and collage pieces reveal a moment in time that is nostalgic and meaningful.
The 3D door installation “Open Doors” comes from a place of respect for his home, NYC. Savior searched the streets of NYC and found this door, the one you see standing strong before you, the one that is reminiscent of a New York long gone but somehow still grounded in this present moment. Most evident is the message of now, “Always In Our Hearts”, as NYC is for many. The keys open doors, new beginnings emerge, and no matter how many times one feels knocked down, the will to live, to keep moving forward, and the embracing of life transcend. As for the doorknobs, Savior says, “They remind me of my grandparents who have lived in NYC for over 75 years. Those doorknobs were in our house growing up and are still there in that house to this day. “
For the photos used in the door installation, Savior would like to give thanks to and acknowledge the photographers who captured the world as it was so we can continue to connect with who we were and where we were in the most evolutionary artistic time NYC has ever known.

#repost @allenartmuseum It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s… Supertoilet? Peter Saul’s riotous crayon, pen, and pastel drawing, with flying toilet bowls emblazoned with Superman’s trademark “S,” is part of the Allen’s Art Rental Collection, which allows students to borrow artworks each semester to hang in their dorm rooms. It’s also the perfect work to wish you a happy #nationalsuperheroday , and to say happy birthday to what is undoubtedly the most famous art toilet of all, Marcel Duchamp’s Fountain, which caused a ruckus in the New York art scene exactly 100 years ago this month. #allenartmuseum#petersaul#popart#duchamp [Peter Saul, Supertoilet, 1962.
