When it comes to combating climate change, take time, money and effort and put it towards something that really matters not just saving your plastic bags . I'm not speaking of the idea of conscious consumers as a righteous movement if you really care about the environment get yourself to a town hall meeting And lobby governments to ban the toxic chemicals we are afraid of. We are still lucky to have clean water and clean air. Latest video conscious consumerism in Bio link to YouTube channel
Final update. See the tiny toy trying to break free? Bet you that's from a kinder surprise egg or some such nonsense! I'm so ashamed to have ever bought my kids one of those, heck, many of those, but never again. Beach clean up doesn't even put a dent in the frikken mess we have created BUT what it will teach you is how you will never make these same mistakes again. I understand now, more than ever, the importance of volunteer work, community outreach and programs that include families and kids, it's the only way we, as individuals, can learn and change. #trash#bigwavebay#hkig#clean#pollution#trash#stoppollution#change#adapt#learning
Where do you start??? I went for the hard plastic...but look at the styrofoam? That's one small square of that cove...☹️ I felt helpless, defeated, and not to mention, my knee was killing me from walking over those rocks scavenging for plastic straws, bottle caps and toothbrushes! 😨it didn't help that I went to see the movie LIFE yesterday. That really set me thinking how destructive we are, to live, we destroy! #plastic#pollution#clean#hkig#bigwavebay#trash
Today for #sustainabilitysaturday we're talking my favourite subject - water. And specifically, water use for food production. These graphics are useful for considering the reduction of your ecological footprint. Water consumption is also a proxy for pollution, as there is a coefficient in pollution models. For great practical ideas, you can look at #meatfreemonday or #crueltyfreemonday to make a more #sustainable change.
Death has a way of interfering with life, or at least that's been my experience, anyway. I haven't posted recently due to the loss of a close, almost lifelong friend. It's been a rough year already. But what does that have to do with manta rays, you might ask? Well, this photo, and the three preceding photos, were taken in Kona on a trip to visit another friend who was being treated for cancer. He was too sick from chemo and radiation at the time to go diving with us, but it didn't keep him out of the boat! It also has to do with another form of cancer, which is being inflicted upon the oceans--by humans. It's called "marine debris", anthropogenic plastic pollution that has accumulated in our oceans, worldwide, ever since the technology of plastic production was discovered. I mentioned previously that manta rays are filter feeders, which means that their food is obtained by straining it from seawater. They do not have the ability to be selective. Nor do plankton, sponges, certain mollusks, all the way up to whale sharks and baleen whales. As the oceans become increasingly polluted with microplastics, which remain near the surface and infiltrate the planktonic ecosystem, filter feeders are increasingly compromised and endangered by ingesting plastic pellets along with their natural food. Please consider lifestyle changes that you can make to reduce or remove plastics from earth's ecosystems. Thank you! 🐳🐬🐋.... #marinelitter#pollution#ocean#litter#plastics#oceans#microplastics#oceanconservation#foamfree#MoreOceanLessPlastic#saynotoplasticbags#refusesingleuse#plasticpollutes#skipthestraw#thelastplasticstraw#noplasticstraws#noplasticinmydrink#CleanSeas#TakeAction#skipthestraw#plastickills#banmicrobeads#banthebags
Praying for Korea. Everyone deserves a clear blue sky.☉☉ 🙏🙏🙏
"Since the arrival of the New Year, a thick toxic haze has blanketed most of South Korea, prompting local authorities to advise people to stay indoors." #korea#prayer#jesus#move#pollution

#USCG and @NOAA responded to the 2012 grounding of the M/V Jireh on the coral reefs of an ecological reserve in Puerto Rico. After removing 600 tons of oiled cargo and more than 5,000 gallons of oil-water mixture, the USCG and the rest of the response crew cut up portions of the ship, in order to lighten the vessel enough to refloat and remove it from the reef. Once disassembled, the removed portions of the ship were loaded onto a barge and taken to Puerto Rico for recycling. Image: USCG/Walter Shinn
Hi everyone! If you would like to see my journey on a more personal level, check out my new page @myspiritualjourney1
What an amazing world we live in. I always appreciate the cultural and environmental diversity the world offers us. It gives me a deep appreciation for the journey of life knowing that there is so much to see and do before we leave this place and this present life time. That is also why i have become so conscious about my actions, whether they are sustainable, and whether they are in alignment with creating happiness for me and all around me. I stilll have a long way to go in so many areas in terms of personal improvement but thats the beauty of growth. It is an infinte pursuit, not limited. The more you learn, the more you realise you dont know it all, and that can be humbling. I plan to travel the world to action out my highest calling and i know ill get to appreciate places like this in my present reality very soon.
