This is Molly! She is a “Parti Poodle”
I had to keep this a secret as it was a gift for my mum on Mother's day!
This was actually my second time using pastel pencils (I've done quite a few since this though!) After finishing this piece, I decided that Pastels is my new favourite medium!

Made in 1947 this pastell shows the #cellist#PaulGrümmer (1879-1965), who between 1913 and 1930 was a member of the still today renowned #Busch_Quartett . The ensemble, founded in 1913, existed in changing composition as long as 1952, with Adolf Busch, the brother of the equally famous conductor Fritz Busch, being the only one to lead it on the first violin for the entire period of 40 years. It survived two wars and the emigration of its members to different parts of the world. Grümmer had left Germany for Switzerland. In the 1940s he taught for some time at the Wiener Musikhochschule. Nicolaus Harnonourt took for four years privately cello lessons with him. Grümmer published four books on teaching his profession and on the viola da gamba, the revival of which he championed. He played also in early music groups. He is here shown rehearsing in his home in Zürich. The identity of the accompanying pianist is not known. Riester painted him on two occasions, when he was playing his instrument, and created a number of pastels and watercolors recording the inspiring atmosphere of the house and the musicians gathering there. #rehearsing#pianist#Zollikon /Zürich #pasteldrawing , #German_art#20thcentury#20thcenturyart . And after several portrait exercises I made this self portrait, slightly beautified of course, but I like it. Going up in scale is tricky when drawing from a mirrors reflection.
