If you're wondering why my posts have been lacking in the last week or so, this is why. We've been pretty busy the last couple of weeks, getting a non-profit up and running. Though our group has really been focused on Jeeps, we are taking the next step and working to bring the whole off road community together. Join us and help clean, build, and maintain trails. Our philosophy includes #leavenotrace#packitinpackitout and #wheelresponsibly to balance the need for recreational opportunities with minimum impact on the environment. www.4xnation.com
The other night we camped near this reminder of how much longer we have! Can't imagine doing this with anybody else. Also, he cleaned up all the nasty toilet paper other "outdoorsmen" left behind, he picked them up with tiny tweezers and burned them in the fire. Pack it in, pack it out.
We wanted to take advantage of this weather before it becomes unbearable. So we took a trip out to Valley of Fire. Surprisingly, neither Dana or myself have been. But what a beauty it was! And after a good couple hikes in the heat, we were grateful for this cool (in both senses of the word) slot canyon. Such a fun day!
please stop using single use plastics- straws, water bottles, small containers, wrappers- there are alternatives and the plastic pollution problem is so large and evident. We have to stop ignoring it! This is what I collected in 20 minutes at Hidden Beach in Tahoe. Protect the places you love. Treat them with respect. Think about the animals and fragile ecosystems that live there before you litter. Check out the tagged companies, brands and people helping with the plastic problem! #nomoreplastic#packitinpackitout#laketahoe#reduce#reuse#recycle#keeptahoeblue
Yea, it's just one bottle.. but imagine if 20 people said the same thing.. imagine when a major holiday comes and we have 100-1000 people coming through the Kern valley and all of them say the same thing.. it won't be a pretty sight.. if you can bring food, beverages, chairs, whatever with you, you can most certainly take it back with you and if you wanna go above and beyond, you can also take other trash that was there before you. Also a new glass ban was put into place last year, so glass bottles and containers are prohibited along the Kern River and Lake Isabella.. we definitely don't want our river trips ruined by stepping on broken glass. So please, do your part and help spread the word to your friends and family and strangers!! #keepkernclean @kernriverconservancy #leavenotrace#packitinpackitout
