Friends! I wanted to mention that I will be in Portland, Oregon from July 26th through August 10th! If any of you are in the area I would LOVE to connect! I'm looking forward to beaches, hikes, and camping! Tag any and all friends if they want to take me on an adventure on the west coast!
Look at this amazing bouquet! Floral is by a longshot my favorite part of the wedding day!
Wedding buffets are pretty awesome too... HMUA: @dallasmerkley @merkleyartistry
Today, I decided to take the marketing material I made for Kamellia Story Book and hand them out in coffee shops and floral boutiques in Portland. I watched a man throwing his right in the trash; I also chatted with a kind lady who seemed to be intrigued by what I was doing. She told me that she was me once when she was younger, that she wanted to have her own business designing pretty stationary. She told me when people finally started to respond to her creations, she became so busy that she wish to bash her own brain out at times, because she had a full time day job and stayed up drawing all night.
I said "I pray that would be what's coming for me, because I think I've either found my niche of starting a creative business or I'm plain crazy."
She said:"We'll, ask what I do now." So I asked. And she whispered: "I am the CEO of my own paper stationary company. And I'm still wish-to-bash-my-brain-out busy!"
I find it a bit humorous that all 3 of my photos that made it to the finals in the @shootandshare contest feature my boys on our adventures with their backs to me. Perhaps it has something to do with me always trying to catch up to them, or perhaps it is a case of photographer children syndrome. Regardless, capturing candid moments in the places we love will always make me happy. #heidiheaphyphotography#shootandshare
Photographing connection and relationships is my favorite. While family photography satisfies this, street photography takes it to another level. It has me looking for connections and relationships between strangers, architecture, and moving parts of the city that serendipitously meet for only moments. It is a fun exercise. Portland provides a pretty incredible landscape to practice street photography fairly often. I like to ride the Max downtown, wander around, people watch, and soak up the dense urban landscape or go to the open waterfront. I've posted this photo before, but I had to post it again. This is my favorite street photo to date.
