Sergeant Brett Wood was serving with the Special Operations Task Group in Afghanistan when he was tragically killed in action as a result of the explosion of an Improvised Explosive Device on Monday 23 May 2011. Sergeant Wood was born in Ferntree Gully, Victoria in 1978 and leaves behind his wife and family. We will think of him and all those that have given their lives or served for our country.

Good GOD. Yesterday's run was a mid-day effort, today's was late-day. And you know what? For me, they both SUCK. But I made a promise, so no toss-outs here. Instead, moving forward. Now if only I could get my ass up pre-dawn for the time that works best for me... 🤔🤔🤔 #day7#movement#onward#amrunning

NEXT SUNDAY! 👉Foundation Training will change your body and possibly even your perspective. 👉Struggling to get out of pain? 👉Want to get more out of your mobility work? 👉Interested at boosting your movement performance with everything you do? 👉Then START by learning this work. ➡️"It's change aimed at re-patterning the body back to its natural way of moving, to the baseline from which we have been diverted by our contemporary lifestyles. It is change aimed not at one part of the body but at the intersection of the tension between axial and appendicular skeletons - in short at the wellspring of how well the body holds itself. It is fundamental change that targets the origin of movement in the pelvis and not the end points of movement in the limbs. The change is comprehensive because it enlists the entire body, from head to toe and from inside out of the whole integrated, highly dynamic organism." Healthy shoulders series 4/4
This far in this series we discussed mechanics of pulling, freeing up the shoulders and increasing proprioception, and various exercises for pulling.
In this final segment we are looking to the "little guys."
With much of the big movements we do - snatch, jerk, strict press, bench press, pull ups - we have a requirement of the "big guys" to produce a great deal of force. That's the pecs, lats, delts, etc.
However, there are other muscles often neglected by many trainees - serratus anterior, lower trap, supraspinatus, etc. that are very important for ideal motion and controlling the position of the scapula and glenoid during these movements.
Here are a few solid exercise options to get you started training them.
1. Quadruped Serratus Punch
2. Prone Y
3. All fours 1 serratus slide w/ roller + lift off
4. Side lying external rotation
5. Quadruped serratus rotations
Weekend cleaning got me feeling creeky...opening my vessel the only way I know how
Top of the thigh bones back. Bottom ribs moving away from the hips, elongating the spine and allowing the collar to flower. Bringing awareness to those small muscles between the ribs. Strength between the shoulder blades to raise the heart. Power through the feet, melting down towards the earth for stability. •
Power through the fingers as they grace the earth. Lift through the hips to remain open and powerful through the side. Reaching with the hips the whole...way...down...
