Apparently these are "peanut shells" 🥜(or "seeds" - it switched back and forth during our walk); and, when planted, they turn into a "cookie tree" in 30 seconds. 🌳◽
This one's imagination requires a lot of mental cardio for my mom brain, but I read a quote yesterday that really spoke to our situation, and it was something like: if you want them to believe what is important to us then we have to invest in what's important to them. -Sally Clarkson.💓◽
I let her carry the twirly birds all the way home and plant them this time. ◽
What are the things that make you tired but are important to your littles? Maybe you are already doing great in this area but need to invest more in you? 💓 Your family is worth it!
As a girl whose main love 💓language is words of affirmation, I always, surprisingly, dismissed affirmations as kind of ...cheesy. ◽
But there is huge influence in our self-talk. In "Organize Tomorrow Today," they talk about how negative self talk relates/creates negative self-image. ◽
And, affirmations are such a handy tool for the one-step focus: focusing on what's just right in front of you instead of all that's ahead. ◽
"I am happy, I am healthy, I am a beast" was one of the examples in the book- I switched out "beast" for "blessed." Because blessed is easier to believe. But, sometimes when I need to push through a round on #21DFX like in Upper Fix Extreme this morning, I say, "I am happy, I am healthy, I am a blessed beast" through each rep. ✅💪😉
What affirmation can you have handy for the tough times? They will come, but they don't have to be as tough as you think! •
While reading @brett_graff "Don't Buy It" there's a section on public vs private school which is always a big decision and hot topic for parents, now we have to throw charter schools in the mix! This is a very personal decision and should not be based on what "The Jones'" are doing. I attended public school my whole life, it wasn't until I went to grad school did I attend a private institution. Depending on where you're located for some public school isn't an option because the system is so bad. Charter schools can offer an alternative if they are run properly. Private schools are great if you can afford them and they also need to be doing their job. Paying more or paying for anything doesn't necessarily mean better, so do your research. There are a lot of free programs that will help your child excel no matter what school they attend. Spending money on anything before college means you still have to have funds available to pay for college. If that is your choice please be sure to start saving at BIRTH, it can be expensive and if your child decides education, college is not for them, please don't make them feel like you wasted money because they didn't follow the path you thought they should. This all comes down to knowing your child. If you pay attention you can tell early on which way they will go and trade school isn't a bad thing. Bottom line, whatever choice you make, make the right one for your child not what society says you should do. #moneymanagingmommy#momonabudget#save#savings#budget#budgeting#budgetcoach#financialcoach#financialcoaching#educate#education#privatevspublicschool#privateschool#publicschool#tuesdaytalk#tuition#dontbuyit#mochamom#moneymindset#brettgraff
This bag worked as a PERFECT beach bag. I found this @Target for only $15! 🙌🏻 It's large in size, & allowed me to fit all of our beach essentials from snacks to towels. The mesh material also worked wonders for any sand that had fallen in. And leather straps, YESS! ☀️🌊
There was a time when sunshiny days would've meant treating myself to some coffee fraps... Now I can't fathom spending my money on something like that when I can opt for Shakeology + a little cold brew.
I often hear how expensive Shakeology is, but when I consider all it's done and continues to do for my health and my family's there's no question of the value for us. Shakeology killed my sweet tooth, provides me with an even rested energy, offers a crazy healthy on the go meal/snack and has bolstered my immune system.
It's always interesting to see how people spend money differently and clearly reflects how we each place value on different things. I AM BUDGET in so many ways--I love to thrift shop, bring on the clearance racks, and I'll rock my dollar store sunglasses, but I won't sacrifice my health by trying to cheapen the way I fuel my body or feed my family.
Monday morning workout went down as usual, but I woke up this morning with an overwhelming feeling of gratitude...we had an amazing weekend filled with family and friends and the current season of hustle my little tribe is in can easily allow for overwhelm, but I choose to be intentional about how I care for me and embracing this busy stage in our lives.
If you didn't wake this morning feeling grateful as this new week begins I challenge you to take 5 minutes and make a list of gratitude. It's amazing how quickly our attitude changes when we CHOOSE to focus on the good in life.
Today's thrift finds. I ❤ to shop secondhand. Many items are new with tags still attached. I also treasure finding those one-of-a-kind vintage pieces. It's better for the planet and your wallet! #thriftstorefinds#goodwillfinds#momonabudget

First workout since I got sick. 2 weeks of nothing! Agh! It's amazing how quickly you can get out of shape! It wasn't pretty, the time was slow, but I did it!!!! Obstacles are just another thing to overcome! Even when those obstacles stare you in the face..push yourself for your goals!
Food prep Sunday. Made a beautiful GIANT salad for the week, baked salmon and roasted mini peppers, zucchini. It's so easy to get off track with nutrition when healthy food isn't available but if you plan you WON'T fail.
Went to Whole Foods yesterday and found watermelon radishes! They are so pretty to add to a salad. They are not as bitter tasting as regular radishes, but almost a saltiness to them. Interesting!💁🏻
I CONFESS!!! This is my first official time meal prepping for my week! I'm tired of getting off working and making bad choices. I'm tired of not having lunch already packed for my day. So here's the first half done. The other is in the oven. And it only cost me about $2.00 a meal if that. Planning for success! #mealplan#21dayfix#momonabudget#motivatedcoachcourtney#ivegotgoals#youcantoo .
So thankful for this guy, my end of the week closer. When he walks in the door Friday nights and my tank is on empty, he scoops up the kids to make pancakes. And I get to finish folding laundry without help 😉. Have a great weekend friends! By the way, we are trying @kodiakcakes for the first time. I know we're a little late to the game. We'll let you know what we think!
Not sure what's up with my little guy that is still just breastfeeding (no bottle) not by choice- at 9 months 🙄 #littlestinker but he's so constipated. I eat a ton of fiber rich foods but nothing is helping! So far today I've consumed an apple and pear, big green salad and shake with extra spinach... and gave him Prunes for lunch... he better have a poop soon! #bfmom#postpartumhealth#littleone
Never get tired of eggs. I miss them when I don't have them. 😢 I am in a middle of having a yard sale plus I did double workouts. Since I started working 4 10 hour shifts, Monday thru Thursday I will be skipping them because I am just too burnt out after a work day to do a workout. But yay for 3 day weekends!🙋🏻I can still workout!🏋🏻♀️🤸🏻♂️🏊🏼♀️
So today I had a late lunch with two fried eggs, cilantro and goat cheese on top, @sietefoods almond flour tortilla, a bed of arugula spinach mix 🌿, 1 slice of bacon, 🥓1/4 avocado 🥑and two mini bell peppers. It was egg 🍳 cellent 😃
Oh yeah...And Happy Friday!
We threw together some easy bean, rice, and cheese burritos for dinner tonight before heading out the door to my son's baseball game. And by we I mean my husband because I was hiding in my room recovering from Thursday (anyone else fall apart by Thursday night or is it just me?)

Oh Jacky-Bear. You've only been 2 for a few months, but you are living each day to the fullest and testing each boundary. You're a perfect example of "the learning is in the doing". But dear boy, please take your momma's word on a few things. We don't have to experience EVERYTHING to know if it's a good or a bad idea. You know now that crayons, pencils, and pens are all for paper not for walls. Let's just assume markers are too 😊
Ross VS Target 🎯 So this morning I went into Ross and found these cute tank tops (the two on the top) priced at $7 each! So naturally I got them. Later in the day I had to go into Target and was surprised to see the same exact tank tops (the two on the bottom) priced at $13 each! They are the same exact material not the same brand, but I would swear they were made by the same company if I didn't know better....anyhow, I of course was excited that I only paid $7 for mine! 🇺🇸👍🏼🤗 #momonabudget#smartshopper
This is what it's all about.👆 Beans and rice. Cheap, easy, yummy, and you can make a million things out of it! With five kids and a tight budget, I rely on cheap and easy meals to feed my family. This account is to share all of my truly inexpensive recipes and I'm starting with the most basic, beans and rice.
For this recipe you can use any kind of beans, my favorite is a mix of black and pinto.
▪️ The night before soak the beans. I fill the crock pot 1/3 full of beans and then fill to the top with water. ▪️ The next morning drain and rinse the beans, return to crock pot and fill to the top with water. ▪️ Season to taste with garlic powder, paprika, cumin, and a bit of seasoning salt. ▪️ Cook on low 6-8 hours or on high 4-6 hours. ▪️ Serve with rice (I use a rice cooker)
Today's menu- fried drumstick and wings! Yummy. . Hey followers on today's cooking101 tips.! As some of y'all might know I'm Spanish, 💁🏻And you can't go wrong with some rice and beans and chicken. here is my recipe! 🔊First of all I wash my chicken very well with limón or vinegar and rinse it really well🚰 Seasoning- I use garlic, adobo, some black pepper, sea salt and some Sazon Goya con azafrán. You could find this in any local supermarket or bodega. But it's entirely up to you how you want to season it. I don't go to crazy with seasoning because I have picky eaters 😑#mommyblogger#momonabudget#coockingtime#cooking101 🔥 #julzlifestyle#spanishfood#everythingbudgetting#todaymenu 🍴#stayathomemom Will show you guys the results in a little while⏱ ps. Fried in oil for about 12 minute turning occasionally until cook!!!!!
I finished these diaper covers awhile ago and I am now working on rompers. We decided to cloth diaper this time around for a number of reasons this biggest one is financial. Depending on when she is potty trained 2-3 years old and the diapers we buy would cost us 2880$ spending a couple hundred, my budget is 300$(I am using prefolds) up front is saving us 2580$ that's a trip back to California for us😉. So as I am making these in size 0-3 months I am wondering if these will fit over her bulky cloth diapers! So over the weekend Cayn and I practiced cloth diapering on his stuffed animals and putting these diaper covers over them, I think we are good! Does anyone else use cloth diapers and have some advice for me?
