The key to the mystery of a great artist is that for reasons unknown, he will give away his energies and his life just to make sure that one note follows another... and leaves us with the feeling that something is right in the world. - Leonard Bernstein #monarch
Lately I've been reflecting a lot on motherhood and how it radically changes us as women. For those who take it, motherhood places such an amazing opportunity in front of us to become the best versions of ourselves and give all of ourselves fully and selflessly to another human. What's been on my mind lately though has been the struggle a lot have (including myself) with finding a good balance. In the midst of trying to be a good mother we tend to forgot to be kind to ourselves. I had Rachael take a moment for herself here because I wanted to capture her as an individual. She is much more than just a mother and I wanted to highlight that. So I'd love to encourage you today if you feel like you're still trying to find yourself after becoming a mother to always care for your own needs first. The best gift you can give your family is a whole mom: A woman that likes herself, knows herself and respects herself enough to experience her own life. So tell me, what is it you are doing for solely yourself? I'd love to hear! For me, it's once a week alone time at a coffeeshop, working on my business. Even though it's still work, it sure makes me feel alive.
6.25.17 | St. Pete Pride Fest pt. 1 | I happened to be at the right place, at the right time for this photo. A moment that speaks for itself: be unashamed of who you are, no matter how others might judge you. In the midst of protest, these two guys stole the show to proclaim that they – and everyone else – should be able to express their love freely and without limit. Happy Pride Month.
Beautiful Sakura season. I'm so grateful to have seen the beauty of the Japanese cherry blossoms with my own eyes. Seeing the petals fall in the wind and blow through the air is something I've always wanted to experience. It truly felt like I was in an anime 🌸😀🌸
Repost @athousandhorses - "There's 106 miles to Chicago, we've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark out, and we're wearing sunglasses." Thank you Joliet for being an awesome crowd tonight!
