We went ocean kayaking yesterday! It was the girls' first time. The swells were huge and it was super fun! On our way back onto the beach, Jim and the two girls with him totally flipped! So glad they all came up with a smile still on their face. 😊 🌊 🛶

Multi day post on side plank alignment errors. Keep checking back as we make our way further up the chain of most common alignment issues. #1 : it is common to see a staggered foot position as a modification to a full side plank. I prefer that clients stack their feet to place more muscle engagement into the bottom hip and oblique instead of the top leg adductor, but if you do take this modification, it is important to make sure the feet are aligned with each other and that you are on the inside edge of the foot engaging the toes back into extension towards the heel and pulling up the arch. If you allow your ankle to roll like the picture shows, you are distributing some of the load of the pose into you connective tissue structures and taking work out of the target muscle tissue, defeating the purpose of working out! #2 shows a lack of engagement in the bottom ankle which is causing the shin to rest on the ground. The edge of the foot should be on the ground, again toes drawn back to stabilize the ankle at 90 degrees. Dumping into the lateral leg and causing the shin to rest on the mat not only puts you at risk for injury to the lower leg, but it also decreases the workload on your hips and obliques.
