Lunch for today: grain sourdough with avo and tomato. Eat whatever feels good because the healthiest way to eat includes variety and pleasure. There is so much fear today around food which is strange because fear has never been a healthy thing. #joyofeating#fearlessfoodie#avoseveryday
This week in The Joy Of Eating programme I've challenged people to think about how they can use the different basic tastes in interesting ways - so I thought I'd do the same in porridge form!
I've managed to get in:
- sweet clementines and coconut milk
- bitter cacao nibs (thanks @jdcacao for the delicious samples) and fresh turmeric
- a pinch of sea salt
- sour bergamot lemon zest / juice and lingonberry powder - slightly umami tahini.
Even I was slightly impressed that I managed to get everything in 😊. And it did taste good too!🖒
I just devoured this Wendy's single cheeseburger like no other gourmet meal. Wendy's has some sentimental value to me as I once worked there at age 16 in high school for a while, which was also the first time I ever made money for myself. Today at the airport, I was hungry and ready to eat, and when I spotted the Wendy's sign I immediately thought , "that sounds really good to me today at this moment". Funny that I've been to this airport many times, yet it only caught my eye today. I savored every bite with delight, enjoying the taste, the texture, and the memories it brought back to me. Not once did it cross my mind that "oh, but fast food is bad" nor did I worry about the calories in that burger. I am experiencing nothing but pure satisfaction right now, which I will also soon forget and move on with my day and with my life. As much as I enjoyed the burger, it was also "just" a meal. No need to dwell on it. Just a part of life. No big deal. 😉
Our not-quite-spring weather has made me want lots of warming food! Fortunately, just in the nick of time, my latest recipes has lots of comforting flavours.
This is whole roasted cauliflower with a creamy tahini sauce. I massaged it with a little ground and whole cumin seeds, so that when I cooked it the kitchen smelled like a big cumin hug. Yum!
The link for the recipe is in my bio... 👆😉🙌
Happy Monday colours! Breakfast is normally the time that fruit appears in my food, partly because it's a lovely way to brighten the morning. .
I had a sneaky bit of rosemary sea salt caramel left from the chocolate class I went to over the weekend. It's delicious with a bit of tahini and oranges (which also have a little black pepper on as I seem to be adding this to EVERYTHING at the moment). 🙌🙌🙌
