Reading Love in the Time of Cholera by Gabriel Garcia Marquez currently.
Here are a few paragraphs which I just love like anything:
After Florentino Ariza saw her for the first time, his mother knew before he told her because he lost his voice and his appetite and spent the entire night tossing and turning in his bed. But when he began to wait for the answer to his first letter, his anguish was complicated by diarrhea and green vomit, he became disoriented and suffered from sudden fainting spells, and his mother was terrified because his condition did not resemble the turmoil of love so much as the devastation of cholera.
But his examination revealed that he had no fever, no pain anywhere, and that his only concrete feeling was an urgent desire to die.
All that was needed was shrewd questioning, first of the patient and then of his mother, to conclude once again that the symptoms of love were the same as those of cholera.
He pursued her breathlessly, he tripped several times over the baskets of the maid who responded to his excuses with a smile, and she passed so close to him that he could smell her scent, and if she did not see him then it was not because she could not but because of the haughty manner in which she walked. To him she seemed so beautiful, so seductive, so different from ordinary people, that he could not understand why no one was as disturbed as he by the clicking of her heels on the paving stones, why no one else's heart was wild with the breeze stirred by the sighs of her veils, why everyone did not go mad with the movements of her braid, the flight of her hands, the gold of her laughter. He had not missed a single one of her gestures, not one of the indications of her character, but he did not dare approach her for fear of destroying the spell.
I'll keep posting the lines which touch me in one way or the other in my stories until I finish this one(hopefully within 2-3 days👻)
I DID IT!! 6 hours hiking in a height of 3.100 meter which is around 10.000 ft. and my left side neck and right hand is burnt😂But what an achievement. Feeling grateful for the chance to hike in such a brilliant nature and also feeling grateful for the great weather as well😁😊🙏🏻
