Ana: "If we align the lighting just right people will think we're solid black snakes"
Amy: "Most of the time we don't even edit shots, especially since we got the nice camera"
Allie: "Oh and photography is artwork just as a painting is. Reposting photos without credit is theft as much as stealing a painting is"
While Puff Adders (Bitis arietans) might be as common as Western Diamondback Rattlesnakes (Crotalus atrox) are throughout sections of their range, they are still a treat to see. This one is from the Karoo region of South Africa, where clay filled red sands influence the colors of many of the herps, including the "Puffies". While some call them the "Poor man's Gabon Viper" I really like encountering this species. Incredibly pugnacious, noisy enough to earn their name... Puff Adders are definitely a favorite for me. #puffadder#herp#herpetology#biology#herping#snake#venomous#southafrica
