"La vedo è già scalpito. Il suo musino annoiato è l'esaltazione della supponenza: ammorbata dal mal di vivere, svampita quanto basta, stronza ai limiti della cattiveria. Forse oltre." #rebecca#lafirenzemale#book#florence Libro che consiglio di leggere a tutti, soprattutto ai miei amici di Firenze 👌🏻⚜❤️💯
Today @cittadifirenzeufficiale celebrated Fra' Girolamo Savonarola on the anniversary of his death (23rd may 1498). The ceremony called #Infiorata involved the spreading of rose petals in Piazza della Signoria, at the exact point where Savonarola was hanged and burnt. The covering of that particular spot with flowers was a popular initiative that first took place on the morning after the death of the preacher: an historical figure of extraordinary interest during the Renaissance 🌺

Joseph will immerse himself in the culture of Northern #Italy , a major departure from his small town Washington State roots. Clad in thrift shorts, a pair of sneakers, and a T-shirt from the clearance section at REI, Joseph is already mispronouncing his way through Versace, Gucci, and Gianfranco Lotti stores. “Dolce and Bananas?” he sputtered in #Milan . “Giorgio Armonkey?” he stammered in #Florence . By the time he gets to Venice, he will decide to get onto a gondola and keep his mouth shut about fashion. Interestingly, though, he has had no problem saying “gelato,” “gnocchi,” or “biscotti” when placing his order in an Italian “ristorante.” Apart from his linguistic misadventures, Joseph continues to toil through the extensive Let’s Go “requirements” like seeing Michelangelo’s David or da Vinci’s The Last Supper, so far making it through his trip in one piece and trying to memorize the names of the 650 kinds of pasta he has so far encountered. #LetsGoTravel
