#Entrepreneurs , do you know how much capacity you really have?
If you knew you needed to grow by a certain number of clients, would you know EXACTLY how much time it would take to prospect, pitch and land them all while servicing the ones you have and running the day to day that keeps the lights on and the doors open?
Chances are you don't, but you should.
Take me for example.
I know that in order to keep pace with the goals we set for our firm this year, we need 7 new retained clients in April. Given that business development falls under me that means that I need to bring in the bulk of those 7.
We know based on our metrics that roughly 15% of the pitches we make convert into clients that same month. At 7 client's that means I need to pitch 47 times.
We also know that roughly 9% of the calls we make turn into pitch meetings so thats a total of 518 calls I need to make. When dialed in I average 8 calls per hour.
That's 112 total hours of sales calls and pitches. Add to that the 36 hours of ongoing client maintenance and two and a half days of speaking engagements and on a standard 45 hour work week that leaves me with a total of 12 hours ALL MONTH to eat lunch, return calls, manage the team and work on the 18 different CRITICAL infrastructure items that must happen by the end of the month as well.
There's also the small matter of my wife and 5 kids who may want to see me once or twice over the course of the month and not with my head buried in a laptop or ear glued to a phone.
Here's the thing though, those 7 clients I need, that's not optional. Not because we'll be broke if we don't get them but because we set a goal at the beginning of the year and setting those goals were pointless if we have no intention of hitting them.
The point is, very few clients we coach have sat down like this and actually broken out EVERYTHING that's on their plate. If you do, you'll see just how much you are actually up against.
What you'll learn soon after is how much this is going to scare the hell out of your subconscious and how it's going to start to work overtime to sabotage you but that's a matter for a different post.

Sums up how I felt last week at #SMMW17 . Met so many people in similar positions as myself, shared the same struggles and joys of the job, but have such different backgrounds and past experiences. We're all similar but, oh, so different.
Nothing gives me more of a rejuvenation for my job than being around these like-minded professionals and I feel so fortunate to have met so many incredible people. Shout out to you all!
The road to building a business is a long one, generally not straight like the one behind me. Be prepared for the many twists and turns you will experience and always keep an eye on the destination.
Weddings are my favorite, two families join together to become one.
It's the memories we create that will last a lifetime, with the right dj it's all possible.
This is why we do what we do with a passion, to create an unforgettable night everyone will talk about for a lifetime.
Are you getting married anytime soon? Contact me to see how we handle it all.
Thanks to my amazing team! @dsdjtonyg @bbsent @mrdjhavok
86-year-old Lee Wachstetter is a widow from Fort Lauderdale, Florida. When her husband was alive, they loved going on cruises . . . and before he died in 1997, he told her, quote, "Don't stop cruising."
About seven years ago . . . she REALLY decided to listen. Lee sold their home, got on one of the nicest luxury cruise ships in the world, the Crystal Serenity . . . and has been there ever since. Yes, she now LIVES on the cruise ship.
It costs her $164,000 PER YEAR . . . which includes her room, all of her meals, tips, activities, and entertainment.
She's visited over 100 countries, she still communicates with her three sons and seven grandchildren with her laptop, and sees them when the ship docks in Miami. But mostly, she sits on the deck, knitting . . . and goes dancing at night.
A spokesman from Crystal Cruises says Lee is one of FOUR women who live full time on their cruise ships . . . but Lee's been there the longest.
What do you think?
Good for her...or WASTE of money?
