Proof that positive reinforcement training works! Phoebe is a 5 month old collie mix with a lot of energy. She was struggling to calm down and just hang out while we were doing other things like cooking, eating, using the computer, etc. She wants to be busy, so she would pace around, whine, and get into trouble. Using reward based training, we taught her to hang out on this towel instead. Now she seems to see it as her duty to hang out there when we're in the kitchen. She goes over there on her own, even with the cat is around and in mornings when she has the most energy. She seems so much happier knowing what is expected of her and having a rewarding default behaviour to fall back on when she is bored or feeling ignored. She actually does manage to relax too, instead of just watching for food, even when we're cooking or eating. When I drop some food on the floor she stays in her spot, knowing that I'll toss it over to her anyway so she doesn't need to get up! 🤗🐶#proudpuppymom#puppylife#dogs#puppytraining#dogtraining#gooddog#trainingcalm#positivedogtraining#positivereinforcementtraining#bekind#loveyourdog#dogbehaviour#happydog#rewardbasedtraining#dogsneedjobs#learningaswego#bestfriends

🇺🇸 the good thing mommy is out of country is she keeps shopping snacks and candies we don't find here in🇻🇪. We are very spoiled☺️. Well mommy is way more spoiler than dad, but let's keep that as a secret 🤐😂. •
The sad part of mommy being far is that we don't see her any often. We only hear 👂🏼 her voice through the phone📱. 👵🏼 & mom keeps doing that so we don't forget about her. We cry and get sad when we hear her voice🙁. We don't really understand much what's going on and what is she doing in there, inside that little thing grandma holds on her hand🤳🏽 and keeps putting on our 👂🏼. She always follows us and says: say hi to your mom 🤔🤷🏽♀️. We really hope mommy decide to come out one day. How could she possible fit in that tiny thing? 📱🤔🤷🏽♀️ we don't really know. But we quit wondering as soon grandma opens the bag full of bonds🍖😋•
Had a great training trip today with a total of 7 other pups and their handlers! We had 8 dogs of various sizes and ages and stages of training underneath the high long table while we ate at the mall, and while Chrysanthemum wanted to play with those around her, she finally settled down (for the most part). Can't wait until our next meetup! Swipe left to see some more pics!

I try to post as many outdoor and colorful photos as possible, but today was just such a huge accomplishment that I had to share these pictures. Today, Shaya proved to me that he really has come a long way since I rescued him in August. Back then, he was terrified of every sound and movement, and his worst fear was men. I had started to give up on the idea of ever doing "normal" dog stuff ever again, but I found a trainer who encouraged me to take him out of his comfort zone-something *I* didn't feel 100% comfortable with-but it was the best decision I ever made. Shaya has always let me know that a lot of his fears simply comes from lack of experience, or from bad experiences, but I could tell he was workable and that he could probably overcome a lot of his fears because of one thing- he NEVER refuses a good treat- even if he is facing lots of stimuli. Today I was shown that hard work, even if it's slow work and slow progress, really does pay off. For the first time since I got him, he came with me on a full day of errands and I am just completely flabbergasted at how well he did. We sat at the car dealership for 3 hours, and in that time he let several people pet him- he even approached several men to sniff/lick their hands. Then we went to a new dog friendly restaurant and he was so happy to be around other dogs he let everyone pet him. Then we went for a short hike (he always loves hiking) and we finished the day by going to the pet store where they got to pick out some goodies as a reward for a great day!

Thank you so much Sandy for your super kind post!!!💙 It is really my pleasure working with you and your family. I love our training session together. You have such a kind and beautiful family! I am really proud of each one of you and the way you stepped up to become a pack leader! Keep up the great work and I will see you next week Monday 😉
I haven't found the words yet.
I certainly couldn't find anything resembling our normal pictures.
For now all I am able to offer is the facts and film.
Kostyl's radiographic evaluations include findings indicative of mild hip dysplasia.
Therefore, he will be retiring.
He will never wear his guide harness.
I will be applying for an organization trained dog to replace him.
It will be up to veterinary and orthopedic professionals to decide if he will continue to work and to what extent during the two plus year interum.
Kostyl will likely be rehomed.
This is a risk of choosing to owner train.
If you have any questions feel free to ask here or via direct message and please be patient.

Pippa did pretty good at Orchard today! Her heel was awful at the beginning but we worked on it and by the end it was much better. 👍🏻 She only had one "incident" AKA barked at someone. For those of you who don't know, Pippa isn't too fond of strangers and gets nervous when they get too close and try to pet her. We've been working on it for a while and she's gotten so much better. 😊 Anyway, I think I've narrowed down what situations cause her to react(bark). Being in an enclosed space and watching the person walk up to her seem to be the main triggers. Knowing that, I can set her up to succeed more and cut down the amount of "incidents" lol. She's improved a TON since a year ago.
