Happy to be hosting the first ever women who code in San Antonio and the Rio Grande Valley!💖 Grad school made me realize that women in Tech are scarce and that we become doubtful about pursuing a career in Tech because we feel underrepresented. I also learned that there are many women that are interested in the field but have nobody to go to to talk about it, to discuss possible ways to "get in", or simply have a network of women that have similar interests.👩🏻👩🏽👩🏽👩🏼 --------if you or someone you know would like to join this get together send us a message for specific details.❤️ Hope to meet many of you. #stemeducation#represented#womeninstem#departmentofeducation#sanantonio#atx#rgv#womenintech
UA! Definitely one of my favorite pictures! I love taking students to the place that has shaped me into the person I am today. Another beautiful day to be visiting campuses. ☀️ #collegeaccess#doe#departmentofeducation
Don't be scared to speak up and voice your opinions. Education is a continuum not a hierarchy! A title does not make you more knowledgeable of what is best for the students...especially when one hasn't been a teacher in the classroom for the last 3 years, or ever! Be more invested in student success than job security. Stop worrying about what the standard says and do what your student(s) needs. Let your data and results speak for you. Educate the other teachers and build a tribe that will truly change the school culture. Attend board meetings and conferences and have nights out together. Plot and (lesson) plan together. Truly collaborate! Don't talk about what you want to see different in your schools behind closed doors. Most importantly...know! Know that people will try to silence you and call you crazy. People will not allow you to hold the mic, for fear of you exposing them in front of the masses. It will seem hard, exhausting, and scary...but #CHOOSEHER#CHOOSEHIM
What is meant for you is yours. ✨ #mondaymotivation

What future? Children GMO up and lead poisoned. #killingyousoftly#chemicalwarfare#whoaretherealdevils#BANNEDFROMTV#NATURALBORNKILLERS#SYNAGOGUEOFSATAN
Students in a #Brooklyn elementary school classroom drank from a fountain whose water was more contaminated than #Flint , Mich.’s — laden with 1,000 times the amount of lead permitted by federal safety regulations.
A Dec. 16 test revealed a staggering lead concentration level of 15,000 parts per billion in the water spouting from the spigot in Room 222 at #PS289#GeorgeVBrower in #CrownHeights , city #DepartmentofEducation records show.
The Environmental Protection Agency requires water suppliers to reduce lead levels if they reach 15 ppb.
The amount of lead flowing from the Room 222 fountain was also three times the 5,000 ppb level at which the EPA classifies water as “hazardous waste.” By comparison, the highest level of lead recorded during the #Flint water crisis was 13,200 ppb. The scandal — in which cost-cutting measures resulted in the contamination of the city’s drinking water — led to criminal charges against 13 current and former government officials.
A scientist who helped expose the Flint scandal said any kid who drank from the Brooklyn school fountain faced “an acute health risk.” “If you were the unlucky student who went to that fountain and was exposed to 15,000 ppb, there is almost no doubt you would get some level of lead poisoning,” said #MarcEdwards , a civil engineering professor at #VirginiaTech .
It was unclear how many kids drank from the fountain, or how long its water had been tainted.
But a custodian at the school, which was built in 1958 and serves 419 kids in pre-K through fifth grade, said the problem was not a new one. “Do you think that lead just got here? This goes way back,” the worker said.
On Monday, The Post revealed that elevated lead levels were found in water from about one in every 20 taps in the city’s elementary schools during testing that took place between December and February.
That testing had followed results announced in July, when officials claimed that less than 1 percent of all samples from the city’s schools exceeded federal standards. #iamorrin#NEO
All of my late nights, 1,000 follow-up phone calls, logistical complications, hotel review searches, breakfast snack shopping trips, and momentary sacrifices are done for this moment right here. --------------------------------------------To take students out of their hometown, many for the first time, and expose them to colleges they never knew existed makes my role so meaningful. To be from an area where only 19% of college aged individuals have a college degree means these students need all of the exposure and reaffirming representation they can get! I am so grateful to provide them with this experience. --------------------------------------------My ASE girls enjoying their night in the Inner Harbor. #innerharbor#innerharborbaltimore

It Is Not Too Late To Get Federal Loan Forgiveness from Corinthian Schools.
At the time, the Dept. had approved more than 12,000 additional claims from borrowers deceived by CCI’s falsified job placement rates since the most recent borrower defense claims report released in Oct. 2016, the agency said.
In all, more than 28,000 claims filed by students against CCI have been approved, totaling about $558 million in loan relief.
Corinthian College filed for bankruptcy and closed the doors of its campuses in 2015 after facing several investigation from the federal government and states related to its business practices, including allegations that it misled students with inflated graduation rates and job placement statistics.
Schools include Wyotech, Everest University, and Heald College.
If you or anyone you know attended any of these universities, please Contact Gold Financial Group and find out more information on how to begin the process of having your student loans dismissed.
When starting my first year of College Bound I did not plan on becoming a Student Ambassador. I was very quiet and only talked to my friends from school while at site. As the year went on, I started to look forward to attending site every Wednesday and more of the outside events. Between participating in community service at the office every Wednesday, attending Math Lab every Monday, Science Lab on Thursdays, and Medi-Tech every third Tuesday of the month, my grades improved and I received exposure to a variety of opportunities. College Bound became a part of my everyday life.
In January, College Bound began the process of searching for the new Student Ambassadors. Initially, I didn’t want to be a Student
Ambassador because I only knew two people and I had a fear of public speaking. The day of the election, Jeremy, the BET site coordinator, convinced me to run for the position, and I eventually won. It was one of my biggest accomplishments since middle school.
I’m thankful for all the wonderful opportunities College Bound is providing me. I’m also happy that I took on the Student Ambassador role because it is helping me get over my fear of speaking in front of large groups, and I have met a lot more College Bound students. I can’t wait for the opportunities College Bound will provide next year. - Essence #collegebound#student#ambassador#departmentofeducation#blackentertainmenttelevision#viacom#walkermemorial#americaninstitutesforresearch#chavezpcs#beaconhouse#sherwood#education#mentoringmatters
