Doing some decluttering tonight, starting with makeup and moving onto my clothes later. These are all products I liked at one point, but they no longer fit what I need and I don't reach for them as much. Probably a blog post to come on this! #declutter#makeup#springcleaning#itsminus20#bbloggers
Day 24 of the #minsgame features quite a few staples from my childhood, but one item I want to call out and offer anyone who wants it is the novel, #Speak . This was one of my favorite books when I was 16/17--it is about a teen girl who is raped at a party... and she spends the majority of the novel trying to recover from the assault on her own since she feels too ashamed, embarrassed, and guilty to tell anyone. Once she finally says something, she is empowered and learns a great deal about herself in the process. This topic is extremely important to me, and sadly it is not touched on enough with young girls, and too many people think it's super easy to spot the signs of a rape survivor. This book taught me a great deal about how to value, empower, and listen to myself, as well as other women. My mom got to meet the author years ago and got me a second copy, in which she signed her name and a note for me to "speak up!" I hope that this message, and maybe this book, can motivate and inspire someone else to spot warning signs and seek help if they ever need it. Sorry to make the game heavy @lauramdoubleu, but I can't let this book go without saying that and offering it to someone else who could use it. You can comment or message me if you'd like the book! ❤💪🏻 #speakup#empowerment#minimalism#lessismore#livesimply#declutter
You Guys. I just mustered up some super human strength to wrestle this rug up two flights of stairs in the rain and set it up in my girls room solo. Now I think I might want it. 😳Also, how cute is this little fox? My girls don't appreciate him, but he's here to stay!
Friday afternoons in my happy place... 💫
Do you use your living room? We don't really utilize this room as a living room so we've turned it into an office/library. We donated/sold a ton of books when we moved last year but hoping to build back up our collection soon. Don't let your books become clutter! If they start to overflow and you run out of space you can always pass them on to others or donate them. 💫
We have been working towards a TV free home this week. We had 1/2 slip ups but on the whole its been so peaceful not having the constant hum of empty noise filling our beautiful space. It also has meant getting things done! I am almost a whole week ahead in my studies and Levi has almost read 2 books - pretty impressive for someone that struggles with reading. I highly recommend ditching TV and becoming awesome 😊#simplelife#minimalism#notv
Been a bit preoccupied with my decluttering focus, which has made me feel incredible @mariekondo With that I haven't been religious with my workouts, but I have kept moving and maintained. It has been a personal cleanse. In the past I would have given up when lacking motivation to workout. We all lose that spark frequently. But the beautiful thing is once you start again it comes back and that feeling is priceless! Taking a week off or 2 isn't the end of the 🌎. Yay for balance! So excited to get a good sweat in tomorrow! 💦 Happy Weekend! 😘 #bbgmomsover30#lifestyle#sweatwithkayla#kaylasarmy#balance#momlife#declutter#workout#motivation#fitspiration#happyfriday#bbgmpls#bbgmn
Day 24 of #DeclutterIn30Days // Evaluate your time.
We're hitting the home stretch. This month, I’ve challenged you to turn off the TV for 24 hours, turn off your social media notifications, and refrain from using it. What did you do with that extra time you weren’t scrolling though your newsfeed or email, or bingewatching Santa Clara Diet (which I highly recommend)? Evaluate how you used that extra time and see what changes you can make in your schedule.
I have grown to love the desert. I have learned to love the wide open space and the stark contrasts it provides. My love for the desert didn't come naturally, though. I had to go and spend time there. I had to open my eyes, quiet my mind, drink it all in. I had to look for the hidden gems. What I discovered was a beautiful place of retreat. The desert now speaks to me in ways the mountains and beach cannot.
Such is the case with the decluttering process. I didn't see the beauty in it until I intentionally placed myself there. Just like the desert, I'm now getting glimpses of the gifts in open spaces, and rooms where I can quiet my mind and focus on what's really important.
LOVE GOD and LOVE OTHERS. PEOPLE OVER POSSESSIONS. These are my mantras as I press forward. I stumble awkwardly through much of this journey. I have much to learn and a long way to go. But isn't that true for most of the treks we make through desert seasons? Today, I'm giving myself some grace and choosing gratitude for each clumsy step. #minimalism#tinyhouseliving#simplicity#grace#declutter
#minsgame day five. I loved this shirt but it has always been missing a button. I told myself I would replace it but could not find a match and I'm too lazy to change all the buttons to match. The comic book I used for a craft and pretty much cut up every page. The computer is dead and the other two items just clutter my house.
Our next Mercury Retrograde will be April 9 - May 3! Can you feel him slowing a little already? 😉
So, what exactly does Mercury in retrograde mean? Will the sky be falling? Do we need to hibernate in a cave for a month? Nah! Mercury is a tiny planet that zooms around the Sun in only 88 days, which means it's retrograding (an optical illusion that looks like the planet is going backwards) 3-4 times a year compared to the Earth's rotation (365 days). In Roman mythology, Mercury is the patron god of messengers, poetry, travel, financial gain, divination, and a liaison to souls in the Underworld. For those who believe in astrology, this planet governs the same qualities as the deity, but as a heavenly body. Thus, if Mercury is perceived weak (in retrograde), the attributes he governs are weak as well: communication, transportation, eloquence, awareness, deal making, etc.
Many astrologers will tell you to avoid certain things during these celestial events such as forming travel plans, moving house, purchasing new electronics, making contractual agreements, and so on. It's always prudent to tread lightly, and to practice extra awareness during retrograde periods. However, the Law of Attraction looms large: if you expect something bad to happen or go wrong, it most likely will!
Just breathe. Allow yourself extra time to finish tasks, practice self-care, give extra space to the car in front of you, get organized, purge what no longer serves you, and above all, be flexible if plans fall through!
Each person has a different and unique relationship with the earth, sun, moon, and stars. So, what is the takeaway? That the planet Mercury retrogrades without fail several times a year. Either you choose to observe it, or you don't. Do what feels right for you. But there's certainly nothing to fear. Happy retrograding! Love, @whitewolfalchemyshop 💕
I refuse to buy from #zpalette after how the CEO has treated her customers so I grabbed up Tarte's customizable magnetic palette to be my first ever! This was the first time I have ever attempted depotting and it went well! I only lost one shadow completely when I dropped it in my sink....otherwise I barely damaged any! I'm so happy to be decluttering and getting rid of some of these gross shades and bulky packaging! .
Day 5/60 Feeling great today! Did some yoga yesterday on my day off & took a detox bath. I think both really helped my stiff muscles. I actually felt like working out today! Going to get in a little more yoga later with my yogi sister, @jalaskapine 😍😘
This week marked the Vernal Equinox. With this time of growth and renewal comes the need to clear out the clutter. Does this photograph look like a pile in your home?
The "pile" could also be something weighing on your mind. Get it out. :) Whether that means journaling until your pen runs out of ink or creating a vision board for a dream that seems to call you (it could have to do with your family, career, wellness, creativity, you name it), or getting together with a supportive friend to help hold each other accountable with pursuing your dreams and de-cluttering your mental states in a fun way~ just remember you can do it!
The "clutter pile" could even be a virtual one. In this age of Netflix, Amazon, Apple, Hulu, and so on, the visual clutter of programs you've watched or tried (and those which your streaming outlet thinks you will like but maybe you actually don't), can easily get out of hand and weigh you down. Is that how you want to feel when you sit down to relax and enjoy a movie or your favorite tv show?
Take a moment to find your password & declutter what you can. You'll feel lighter.
Often, an important first step in Feng Shui is de-cluttering. It is an on-going process. Take a deep breath filled with beautiful loving confidence & proceed in whatever area you feel could use some de-cluttering-love. You got this! 💜
Happy Spring! Enjoy a weekend full of wonderful chi! 💓 💕Megan Pogash, Your Feng Shui Guru🌸
