In my practice the last two days...this word #significant keeps popping up,  and I question what is so significant!  Getting onto the mat and  practice .. visualizing my own practice...the mystery of "svadhyaya " known as self study. Pulling me  towards the  significance of the sanskrit translated into two parts..sva meaning self and dhyaya means to recall or to think. 
So I decided to revisit my philosophy..and realised that Svadhyaya teachings to bring the experience that of the consciousness of the depth to our true self. Such as  Self inquiry in class I would invite everyone  to , "ask your self how do you feel"  checking into Self.  This made me reflect and realised how significant that  beyond the physical practice, getting stronger, getting more flexible...I realised the gift in yoga..finding the true spiritual path, finding inner contentment and peace.

It's an absolute struggle bus 🚌 to have my dominately flexible side now be my stiff, sore, uncomfortable side! At least it's improving!! Gotta keep that balance! 🌻

I love that feeling. I love trying to feel where my energy ends outside of my body. I love thinking about how this container is so temporary. I love thinking about my energy in a timeless way. How it was here before this body and how it will continue after. Some might say its morbid, but it makes me feel so alive! This is such a wonderful experience... this gift of life we've been given. I try every day to be grateful for this journey 💫⠀ .⠀

With so many sunrises at the beach this week - my daily practice has literally been turned on its head. Even though I prefer a morning yoga practice, it's been quite lovely to switch it up and do some practices in the afternoon for a change. Feels more fluid, more open, more expansive. And of course, a bit warmer. Very interesting to observe the changes in the body on a daily basis and also with these temporal changes. All good learning 🙏✌️💫⠀

Have you met our yoga instructor Kiah? She is energetic and strong and teaches with us at In Fine Feather on Wednesdays for Core Flow Yoga at 8:30pm and Saturdays for Fit Flow at 8:30am and Intro to Yoga on Saturdays at 10:00am. 
Kiah first came to yoga at the age of sixteen as a compliment to her soccer regime, and the excitement of being able to touch her toes made her stick around for a while longer. Armed with her dad’s old yoga mat and Rodney Yee  DVDs, she began to forge the beginning of what is now a lifelong practice. As a teacher, her goal is to help students understand and find comfort in their bodies through fluid, flowing classes. Her approach to teaching reflects her own practice with a focus on having fun and listening to the physical self. She believes that yoga is not about how far one can push themselves, but rather recognizing personal boundaries and building the strength and awareness to eventually shatter them.

Works in Progress: sometimes, I paint a couple of cards using similar colours and similar techniques. I paint a bunch at a time and set them aside to dry. When they are dry, I start adding more layers. I'm not afraid to "mess up" because I can try again on a similar card. Revisiting the words of old friends. Coffee, hot as can be. Bird song outside the windows, layered with signs of an awakening city, remixed with the wise voice of @newparadigmastrology spinning the teachings of the sky in the background. Reprogramming, realigning and resetting. Replenishing. Leaning in to trust, faith. Leaning in to the support that surrounds us all. Breath comes and goes. These past few weeks have been super busy for me, and I haven't been able to practice as much as I'd like.  It seems each moment I plan to run or walk or practice yoga ends up being filled up with a work commitment instead.  I woke up this morning feeling drained and frustrated, but before I went down the rabbit whole of self criticism, I interrupted my mind with these affirmations that I have hanging by my bed 👆🏼
This practice reminds me that life is imperfect and messy.  The balancing act of self-care, work, family, friends, alone time, etc can get off kilter here and there.  It's no reason to panic or beat yourself up, it's simply a check-in point and an opportunity to shift what needs to shift.  Today I need to make time for myself, I don't need to criticize myself for how the last few weeks have gone down.  It's in these moments that I remember that it's very, very hard for a living being to thrive and grow in an atmosphere of negativity.  We really do need to fuel ourselves with love not hate ✌🏼little shifts with big ripple effects 💕

What about your hips? Do you / can you deep squat?

I've been struggling with my hips and deep squat for a long time. Because of my job and too much sitting I wasn't able to deep squat at all. I was falling back all the time.

Then a few months ago I got rid of my chair, started sitting / squatting on the floor while working and everything is just getting better since.

The big part of success is daily hip routine. I've collected different sets of moves / stretches for opening the hips but just recently started improvising and putting it all together.

Start for a few seconds and then build up slowly. I do this up to 5min 2-3 times a day and my hips just feel more free each time.

Remember consistency is the key = 5min daily not 1hr weekly!

Last month, I married my beautiful wife, Rochelle. We decided to take some time out for ourselves before the wedding – we spent a month in India on a yoga teacher training course before heading to Australia for 2 months.

Shortly after arriving in Australia, I found my happy place - I felt content with life and full of joy. At first, I thought this feeling was a result of being in Australia, around Rochelle’s friends and family who were happy to see us and excited for our wedding. I found myself thinking about my feelings of happiness a lot when suddenly it dawned on me, the reason why I was feeling so good.

Over the years, I have spent time reading and researching books on spirituality. In November 2017, I decided to revisit some of these books and read The Master Key by Charles Haanel, after it was recommended to me. I followed the twenty-four part meditation program over a period of 3 months. My understanding of The Master Key grew stronger during my time in India when we were studying yoga philosophy on our teacher training course.  I kept thinking about this consistently strong feeling of joy within me, and it dawned on me – the only thing that was really different, was that my meditation practice had become more regular.

Rochelle and I are now living back in the UK and I still feel happy, content and joyful - life is good. Since then, I’ve read many more books and want to share my experience of feeling good.
