Today in cat news: while working on the new house yesterday, we heard a meow through the vents. Long story short, we discovered a very sad tortie hiding in a drop ceiling above the furnace in the basement (see my story). We knew the previous owner had two cats - one very outgoing and one very shy - and heard the friendly one had been adopted by a family member, so we assumed the other cat had been adopted too. It looks very much like this sweet, scared girl was abandoned when her owner left and it breaks my heart that she's been hungry and scared these past two weeks that we've been making so much noise in the house. I'm so glad we found her alive - she was terrified when we left her last night and I couldn't get her down, but I'm hoping that since she had the place to herself all night she'll have come out for some of the water and food I left. I'm going to check on her now and hopefully get her to the vet - wish me luck! 🙏 Cat experts: if you have any tips on how best to care for a fragile (I'm assuming she's subsisted on very little since early this month) cat before I get her to the vet, shoot me a DM.
