Steven Shearer's Arbres de Noël III (2015) #stevenshearer#contemporaryart#montreal#art#photography
Known for his collage-works, multidisciplinary Canadian artist, Steven Shearer's artistic interests lie in his upbringing, specifically suburban culture, teenage alienation and heavy metal. Using found photographs and old magazines, Shearer is more interested in the individual who took the images rather than the content of the images themselves. Here, an anthropological and archival approach is taken through the collection of family Christmas tree photographs, showcasing the relations between class, traditions and popular/kitsch culture.
A beautiful life begins with a beautiful mind.
I love the thought that we have the freedom to design our own lives. With each rise of the sun we get to live our life the way we choose. It seems that life is short so I'm determined to make it sweet.
Sure I have days where things don't go to plan, but when I remind myself of this things are easier and much more fun.

"My work isn't about my personal relationships with people, it's not my therapy. It's about stuff that really affects us ethically."
