My first trip to the Rocky Mountains did everything but disappoint! From hiking the Berry Picker's Trail up Vail Mountain (with an awesome view of the Mountain of the Holy Cross) to fly fishing the Eagle River, a few bucket list items were able to get done! Happy birthday to @meglebus and Geof, and thank you for showing us a great time! I think Beth and I would move to Colorado TODAY 😁👍 #vail#Colorado#outdoors#travel#hiking#pineylake#eagleriver#flyfishing#trout
If you always remain in the same place you’ll believe that the world is what you’ve seen. While the neighborhood gossip tears at your brain, you're unlikely to think of the thousands who die every summer from floods in the Indian monsoon season, or the hundreds who die of heat or fire every year in Paris. Thousands of miles away there is war on the streets and a fatal depletion of resources.
Apart from the legitimate issues that go unacknowledged, there’s a whole other layer - there are literally thousands of cultures on the planet today. Every culture is so diverse in there mode of living, whether it be work ethic, architecture, cuisine, sports, values. The grand scope of it all puts me in such a position of awe and gratitude. I’m so preoccupied by how someone perceives any one thing differently that I do.
The world has many faces. This career is not the only career. What you believe is not the only thing to believe. Destiny is not hard and linear. You have many paths.
It's not always easy to give up time for other things to take a class, especially when the class doesn't include my dog. But this past weekend, @i_am_zeb and I did our first official backpacking trip (ever!) with @coloradomtnclub and had the pleasure of waking up to this incredible view with only the sound of birds as an alarm clock. Not only did we learn so much that will allow us to go more places completely on our own without getting eaten by bears (Hello, Alaska!), but we also had a blast and got some amazing views, too.
It’s @brianlewismedia signing off...thanks for tagging along with me while I shared some of my faves from the Pikes Peak region. We’ll end things with a hyperlapse of Balanced Rock in Garden of the Gods I shot a few years back. A hyperlapse is a tedious process of creating a “moving timelapse” by taking a photo every few inches while slowly moving forward or focusing on an object. This one was 323 individual photos stitched together to create a 13 second video. I must have looked like a complete idiot to all the tourists driving by, but the results are usually worth the embarrassment. Cheers everyone!
Who knew that hand soap could make you feel so good?
Sun-drenched and pure, White Sage is recognized by shamans and healers throughout the world for its ability to cleanse body and soul. Blended with organic Egyptian Geranium oil that is made in small batches by a family-run distillery near the Nile River, it becomes a tonic that harmonizes the nervous system and balances the entire being.
