HOW TO DO A PROPER LAT PULLDOWN
[vertical/ horizontal hybrid pulls]
Congratulations to my blood @fitness_iq #100Kbeardgang 💰👳🏽👳🏻 on reaching 100 000 followers! 🙌🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
The lat-pull down is personally one of my favourite back exercises when training bodybuilding style and so many people don't understand how to do it properly. Here's a detailed explanation + video by Jorge to help you get your lats looking like WINGS! ✈️✈️✈️
I understand that there is plenty of variations out there for the lat pull-down, but this one by far the one I prefer since I feel like I get the best of both worlds, not only lat recruitment but also the upper back muscles.
This is in fact how I perform my pull-ups, chin- ups etc. Regardless of the variation you choose such as closer grip, wider grip, more upright, less upright the principles remain the same
Ensure that you are NOT shrugging to hit maximum contraction. Also make sure you're pulling with your elbows oppose to hands and into your hips NOT directly down to get a more effective contraction and go for FULL RANGE OF MOTION
The way I prefer executing these is with a grip that slightly outside the shoulders. I grip thumbless to minimize bicep activation.
Before I initiating the pull my scapula is fully elevated ⬆️⬆️ then I proceed to drive my scapula into depression⬇️⬇️/ retraction➡️⬅️ while simultaneously slightly leaning back going into thoracic extension and pulling into my hips ↘️↙️with my elbows until the bar reaches the top of my chest but NOT making contact.
Then I slowly release it until I'm slightly more upright and my scapula is elevated at the starting position getting a full stretch In the lats.
Give this one a try guys and let my know what y'all think.
TAG A FRIEND WHO MIGHT NEED THIS! 💯❤️🙏🏽
Almost completed stage 2 of the clay head, with one more stage to go. All the separate parts more or less rejoined with little issues. Still need to add more soft, support clay over all the join lines.
Almost re-assembled the clay head after its been halved & hollowed. Very soon the face will be reattached and that date carved into the inside left half of the head (24/3/17) will never be seen again. Hopefully!
Halving/hollowing video part 2.
I whisper to Andy "it looks like me"...
Or my mother, sleeping
Admittedly many have said it looks masculine, yet on other occasions, I feel it does look like my mother. Especially with the 'death mask'. In the background plays Massive Attack, Young Fathers short film video song "Voodoo in the Blood" with the astounding Rosamund Pike
Here's a short video glimpse of the final hollowing stages, where each piece must be joined using a time honoured tradition; scoring the clay, adding slurry (thick slip), reattaching each piece, then blending the join lines.
