"Ramadhan is upon us! During this holy month the local muslim population fast during the daylight hours. This means no eating, drinking or smoking.
The island slooowwwws dooowwwnn during this period. This is especially in the early evening, when many service staff will take some time to break their fast.
As a tourist, there are a few easy things you can do to remain respectful.
1. Wear clothing around the village, not just your bikini.
2. Dont push your Muslim friends to eat, drink water or smoke.
3. Be aware that the person serving you is probably a bit tired. Be patient with them, they still want to give you warm Indonesian hospitality they will just be a little slower.
Be patient, and enjoy the slowed pace of our beautiful culturally-rich island. If you have any questions about Ramadan and how to remain respectful ask us at Manta Dive."
I'm the gold at the end of the rainbow; not the gold a leprechaun hides from everyone, but the special kind of gold one lucky person will forever cherrish when the time is right. And I only ever expect to be treated as such.💛🌈💯
