"I just want to draw the attention of the world to this great need here for maternal health... the world has forgotten these women. Saint George and the Dragon: one being, a beast.
Their story’s as old as our time.
Deep in our yesterdays, seek and you’ll find
there our tales that remain to be mined.
Saint George is England’s patron saint
and he roams the world
From Africa to Germany,
his tale is unfurled
Saint George he’s there for Georgia, Malta
and for Palestine;
for farmers, soldiers, skin diseases,
George is yours and mine.
From Genoa in Italy,
Beirut in Lebanon:
his story touches many folk;
the list, it carries on…
Saint George, he minds all horses and
the saddlemakers, too.
Of course, he had his struggles, yes,
so George is me and you.
Some of my narrative poem about Saint George and the Dragon. Good luck with slaying your dragons within on this Saint George's Day and beyond. It's also the day on which Shakespeare died, so it's fitting to share a little thought for him and his archetypal themes.
