This weekend was amazing, fun, magical and every other positive word I can think of, but leaving me feeling a bit tired, run down, and bloated (#worthit ). Literally dripping with sweat.
I was planning on running 2.75 miles, but I'm still trying to figure out my route and I was dying anyway, so I only ran 2.5. I'm not totally sure why, but getting this last half a mile in for the 5k has been rough. I do have a theory though. My runs have been getting harder ever since I started trying to average a certain time. I really wanted to average a 10 minute mile or faster and I just don't think I'm there quite yet. I went for a run last night and it was not good. I felt gross, I couldn't breathe, and I barely made it a mile and a half before I had to stop. Today, I started out the same, worrying about my time and it was a little easier, but right around the mile mark I was struggling. This time, I decided to slow it down and work on finishing instead of getting a great time and while it was still a challenge, I was able to finish and I felt much better about that. I guess my point is that if you're really struggling to reach your goals, reevaluate. It's more important to me to finish a 5k than it is to average a certain time on my runs. I hope this helps someone, but even if it doesn't, it's nice for me to have a place to get my thoughts out!

This breakfast was the perfect combo of salty and sweet 😍 I find that I'm always craving something sweet after I eat basically any meal 😂 so this fruit helped with that craving. I LOVE cantaloupe and it's such a great fruit bc it has potassium, it's a lower sugar fruit, has lots of fiber, and it's full of vitamin A and C (the list goes on, seriously google it). It's always such a bummer that fruit that's already cut is so expensive at the store but if you buy a melon and cut it yourself (which takes like 5 mins max) you get way more fruit and save a lot of money! 🙌🏼

Hi ladies! If you asked me what book I would recommend you to read this year it would be Think By Lisa Bloom. She is a Legal Analyst & Attorney. And also the daughter of Gloria Allred. ( Women's & victim's right attorney.) This book is a jack of all trades! She talks about what is important in life. Such as what is going around the world? What can we do to prevent global warming? What actress Angelina Jolie done in 3rd world countries making a difference in people's lives while most Americans don't know her humanitarian work but they know about the Angelina/Jennifer false feud? How watching/idolizing reality stars & reading tabloids slashes your IQ & makes you narcissistic. Reading real news( instead of celeb gossip website)such as The New York Times & Time Magazine.Tips on making more reading time in your life,Talking about women rights & how to reclaiming your brain. This book changed my life. I can go on & on lol. Just remember to have Thick Skin reading this book. She does not sugarcoat things & gives you hard straight facts in whatever she is talking about. *what to do when you fall off the wagon*.The past two weeks have been really odd for me. I haven't felt this "off" in a long time actually. I haven't been to the gym in a little over a week, my eating has been off the wall (haven't tracked my macros, eating like crap, not getting enough of the nutrients I should, had a real binge that hasn't happened in a LONG time, & I even ate a couple non-vegan desserts 😷), I've felt some things I haven't in a while, things from my past trying to creep their way to my present (fall back bruh), my strength has been really low, and overall my emotions, & mindset haven't been the typical me.
I can't even give an accurate update on my "cut" because I haven't been sticking to my plan. I am a few pounds down. I can feel my muscle suffering though. What I know is... I'm not going to throw myself a pity party and I'm ready to start off this week right. Acknowledge that sometimes it's okay to not be okay. It's okay to be a mess. It's okay to not have the answers to things right here and now. It's okay to fall off the wagon... as long as you hop back on. .
I woke up MAKING THE CHOICE to do better.
Everyone slips up now and then. Here's some tips if it happens to you:
1. Be sweetly accepting: Don't beat yourself up. Graciously accept the reality of the fall down and get ready to move on.
2. Embrace your humanity: Don't expect yourself to be perfect. Welcome the fact that you're human, which means you'll make mistakes from time to time.
3. Give thanks to your "failure": this may seem counterproductive, but it means you can turn this into a transformational teaching moment.
4. Commit to growing. Commit to pursuing/reaching your goals.
5. Observe the negative effects of your slip. But, do not dwell on them. Help yourself see the unhealthy factors of the slip.
6. DO dwell on what you really really really want: zero in on what you really want in the depths of your being.
7. Make a visual to illustrate your goals and placing it somewhere you will see often. This can be a big motivation factor.
8. Move forward ❤

Those mornings when you just feel like treating yourself to a cozy and warm golden milk oatmeal 😜 okay, maybe not everyone enjoys the taste of turmeric, BUT, you honestly hardly taste it, AND turmeric helps prevent cognitive decline so sign me up 🙋 Recipe: 1/2 c old fashioned oats cooked in 1 c unsweetened almond milk + 1/4 tsp turmeric + 1/4 tsp of ginger/cinnamon over medium heat for 8 min. Add in 2 chopped strawberries (let the residual heat soften the strawberries!), 1 tsp hemp hearts, a couple dried cranberries and 1 cashew (that I fished out from my trail mix 😅) macros include oatmeal and all toppings. #knowyourfood#breakfastofchampions#breakfast
Grilled Pineapple, Avocado and Cucumber Salad - perfect for BBQ parties. 🍍🔥 Recipe: cut the pineapple in half and place one half of the pineapple (cut side down) on the preheated grill for 10-15 mins until grill marks are shown. Take it off the grill and let it down. Carefully use a utility knife to cut out the flesh and dice it. Then mix it together with 1 Persian cucumber (diced), 1/2 avocado (diced), 1/4 small purple onion (diced), 1 small chili pepper (diced), 1tbsp toasted chopped almond, a squeeze of lime juice, some mint and cilantro leaves, salt and pepper. I love savory breakfast. These breakfast tacos from @cafegratitude were insane. Black beans, quinoa, brown rice, tomatoes, green onion, avocado, cilantro, spice and the best cashew cheese in the world made this such a satisfying meal. I'm gonna recreate this at home for sure!
Good morning friends, happy Monday!🤗 I woke up this morning feeling a bit groggy and snoozed my alarm for like 15 minutes... Hey! At least I finally got out of bed! Believe me, I all but stayed in bed and slept🙊 but this girl has some goals to work towards! This last weekend was the complete opposite of the one before because it was so relaxing. Sometimes you just need a lazy weekend😘 Don't worry, I still got my sweat on! This week I'm really wanting to focus on nutrition. I find it hard to stay as dedicated in the summer time, especially with so many family gatherings. But I am determined to work harder and make good food choices!❤️ I've been crushing my water drinking game, so I plan to keep on that. What are some of your goals your working on this week? I make a super nutritious smoothie everyday...so you could say that I have a lot of tricks when it comes to making them! I like my smoothies thick, so watering them down isn't an option! Freezing my fruit is a perfect alternative to ice!
Recipes for this Chocolate Raspberry Smoothie:
1/2c unsweetened almond milk
1c frozen raspberries
1scoop Chocolate Shakeology .
Hot weather literally calls for iced almond coffee, sweet cherries and some freshly baked banana bread 🍒🍌 The recipe for this banana bread is a few posts back, just without the choc chips (I ran out - yeah, how's that possible?). Hi everyone! Hope you're enjoying this wonderful sunny day. Am finally relaxing after a very hectic morning of emails, blog work, diary management and an amazing 🍑 workout plus a spin class. On the video a tiny overview of some of today's moves. Unfortunately not a lot to share. The gym was a mad house this morning and literally filming was a mission so I gave up. But still these are amazing ones.
1. Single leg elevated glute bridge x 25 reps each leg for 4 sets
2. Cable kickbacks x 20 each leg SUPERSET with👇🏼
3. Plate stiff leg deadlift x 20. I did 6 supersets of this combo. After this I moved to squats, hamstring curls and all the rest of it (sadly not on the video). Hope you enjoy my little video. Lots of love guys 💕✌🏻@bionicbodies
A different kind of #transformationtuesday 😎😎😎 Every year at work we take a staff photo and last night I went through all my staff photos from the last 7 years. The photo on the left is from two years ago and the photo on the right is from last month 😱 Besides being on this health and fitness journey for the past year, I really started my internal transformation 2 years ago, right around the time this 2015 photo was taken. On the day the photo was taken, I was in the process of getting out of a very toxic relationship with a drug addict. I was hopelessly in love and completely heartbroken 💔 by what was happening. When we put a final end to the relationship at the end of June, I was lucky enough to find some friends who were able to listen to me and help me, and with their support, I decided I needed to make a conscious decision to stop dating, and to just focus on myself and healing some old wounds. Two years later and I'm still single and loving it! 🙅🏼🙋🏼💁🏼And when I say single, I mean I'm totally celibate 🤘🏻 (TMI? 😂) It has been an amazingly healing process and I am so glad I've offered myself the gift of myself these past two years 💝. I would never have started #kaylaitsinesbikinibodyguide if I hadn't first decided to make myself my only priority. I've learned to take care of my own body, mind and soul, and I'll be all the more ready for something healthy and loving when the time comes 💕 So now you all know a little bit more about my journey! I hope everyone's crushing it today 😘😘
